38° C (100°F) today. J snapped, went to the shop and bought an AC unit that has two-parts and does not need to be attached to the house.[Poll #1331551]I do not promise to be swayed by the vote, because this lj is a monarchic system. Feel free to supply supporting arguments. I realise that I haven't supplied nothing as an option, but with this level of logorrhoea, that's hardly an option ;-)[Poll #1331551]

The HP Steampunk Holmesian fic I began for Leochi (OMG, yes!!!)
Fathers Who Could Do With a Spot of Sinning
These Fragile Bonds (which four people read, and has been shamefully neglected)
The long version of An Act of Simple Devotion
The dystopian HP fic set in the United Theocracy of America (WHAT??? DID I MISS THIS??????)
Her novel (YES, and let me read it!!!)
Her updated CV and find a job with a nice European publisher

Date: 2009-01-15 01:52 pm (UTC)The UTA fic is my newest one. At the moment it is three scenes and about two pages of notes, but I am excited about the idea!
And poor old novel keeps being put aside for fic. Boo!

Date: 2009-01-15 03:06 pm (UTC)I voted for Fathers, but I'm looking forward to the anti-mpreg. I am also deeply invested in your coming over to Europe, so I am willing to sacrifice much fandom gratification, including birthday fic, for you to devote time to getting a job in Europe or finishing your airport novel. :)

Date: 2009-01-15 03:09 pm (UTC)I think the antimpreg will be the first finished, so it stops taking up valuable brain space! But then Fathers, Leochi and Shiv's stories, and then I can start new things at the same time as finishing old. This is worse than my craft room stash ...

In grad school, I lived in a terrible apartment that nevertheless had free heat. I used to crank up the thermostat to 80°F, put on shorts and a tank top, drink frozen margaritas, and listen to Jimmy Buffett while working on my thesis and pretending I was on a tropical island. Or at least the west coast of Florida.
The point of this comment is I DO WANT.

Date: 2009-01-15 11:47 pm (UTC)Here in the US, a company called Pinguino makes small, portable air conditioners which have internal water tanks (for cooling) and vent hot air out the window through a vent duct. Perhaps that might work for you?
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 03:06 pm (UTC)Yes. Portable air conditioners. J, knowing I disapprove on principle, went to the shop and bought on yesterday. It did not fit in the car, so he tore up the box and fit the component parts in. He summoned me to help carry it inside.
'So this is two large parts with an un-detachable hose joining them ...'
'Yes, you can see that.'
'So, how were you planning to get it through the bars on all our windows?'
We are playing remove and reinstall the bars this weekend ...
And they will all eventually be written ;-)

Date: 2009-01-15 11:53 pm (UTC)Fathers Sinning and the very silly and totally delightful Single Father's Guide should be your first priorities, and then you should make you way down the list. I'm sending my bitter, frigid cold to help out with your heat. It should render you tepid and facilitate MY need for fic ;-)
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 03:12 pm (UTC)Alas, I fear the order for your requests will be reversed, based purely on the fact that Single Fathers is a doddle to write and I am currently an idiot, but it does look as though those will be the first two ;-)
Thank you for you cold! It arrived today and is helping beautifully!
