In further heatwave developments ...

38° C (100°F) today. J snapped, went to the shop and bought an AC unit that has two-parts and does not need to be attached to the house.[Poll #1331551]I do not promise to be swayed by the vote, because this lj is a monarchic system. Feel free to supply supporting arguments. I realise that I haven't supplied nothing as an option, but with this level of logorrhoea, that's hardly an option ;-)[Poll #1331551]

At least Sydney's dam is around the 60% mark at the moment, as opposed to 25% or so last year!

Mmmmm ... cool ...

fathers who could do w/a spot of sinning =P

Bugger that lot, you haven't reached my name on your notes list yet, selfish cow!

Most amusing Brammers! With regards my name on your notes list...I am not dead! Just not very updatey lately. I have been keeping my spy eye on you tho! Hope your not melting too fast!

[identity profile] cinnatart.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Her updated CV and find a job with a nice European publisher

Does that mean you'd move?

[identity profile] aldehyde.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
why isn't this poll multiple choice! i mean, as soon as i saw the holmesian fic on the list my mind was made - but i think you should also work on "fathers who could.." as well as your own novel and CV :D

ps:- i have to add the mandatory "EW MPREG!! GAH NOO" bit :P

After following this poll closely for the past half an hour, now I just want to say that, I hope Sinful Fathers win the race against Dodgy Mpreg.

(And I'm sorry I can't relate to you about the hot weather. We've been very cold these past few days. My nails are very blue right now.)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about it for a while. My love affair with Sydney is mostly over, though I don't think I'm ready to move back to England yet. Estonia, Italy, New Zealand and Denmark could all win me over ;-)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY for not dead! It's nearly cool enough for me to get some sleep, yay for sleep!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Because if it was multiple choice, then it would be no more help than my own brain with a long list of things to finish!

And yes, I say Ew every time I turn to the mpreg fic, save that it is really ANTImpreg! XXX

[identity profile] cinnatart.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
oooo Denmark? I know people from there. =P

It would be fun to move, maybe you should work on that? =P

[identity profile] libby-drew.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It's -15 F here today. I believe that's about -26C.

Get that AC working yet? ;-p

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, it is not detachable, has a hose that connects two large parts, and we have bars on our windows. I foresee a weekend of frustration that ends with us sawing a set off, then drilling them back in. Sigh! He can't return it either, since he left the box at the shop in a bid to fit it in the car. Ah J, hot and lovely but not always on the ball with the thinking ...

[identity profile] libby-drew.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still trying to get past the 'bars on the window' part. Is there something you're not telling me? ;)

[identity profile] raitala.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck with the AC. I suppose easily removed burglar bars would sort of defeat the purpose.

I voted for Fathers, but I'm looking forward to the anti-mpreg. I am also deeply invested in your coming over to Europe, so I am willing to sacrifice much fandom gratification, including birthday fic, for you to devote time to getting a job in Europe or finishing your airport novel. :)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! We live in the inner city, and this area has only been gentrified recently. Those bars have thwarted at least two burglaries in our years here, I like em!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to say that you and Cal and my museum friend have really made me think more seriously about my time frame for moving back to Europe. This will be my year of planning and organising!

I think the antimpreg will be the first finished, so it stops taking up valuable brain space! But then Fathers, Leochi and Shiv's stories, and then I can start new things at the same time as finishing old. This is worse than my craft room stash ...

[identity profile] foi-nefaste.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Any/all of the above? Your writing is great fun to read, basically, so whatever you feel like witting! :)

[identity profile] sarcasticpixie.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It is currently 12°F (-11°C) with a windchill factor of -1°F (-18°C) in Boston, Massachusetts. I am wearing clogs, two pairs of penguin socks, leggings under my work trousers, a long-sleeved tee under a Shaker-knit sweater, and I've pulled up my collar as high as it'll go. I am on my third decaf-and-cocoa of the day, and it is only 10:41 a.m. EST. It may also snow, which is ridiculous, because the only good thing about subzero temperatures is the inability of snow to crystallize.

Tomorrow, it will be -10°F (-23°C).

In grad school, I lived in a terrible apartment that nevertheless had free heat. I used to crank up the thermostat to 80°F, put on shorts and a tank top, drink frozen margaritas, and listen to Jimmy Buffett while working on my thesis and pretending I was on a tropical island. Or at least the west coast of Florida.

The point of this comment is I DO WANT.

Are you really thinking of moving to Europe? WIN!

But "Fathers Who Could Do With a Spot of Sinning" = awesome too.

[identity profile] goddessriss.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I voted for 'Fathers', but as one of the 4 people who read 'Fragile' I wanted to vote for that too. And 'Devotion'. And dodgy mpreg. Damn it, woman, give me ticky boxes!!!

We have freezing fog and I am cold. Time for cocoa.

[identity profile] inamac.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No 'all of the above' option?

*Thinks* I ought to do a poll like this. Oddly, item 3 would be identical to yours...

[identity profile] alex-s9.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Your poll is broken, I must sadly inform you. Only one answer is possible and I needed to tick off at least three.

[identity profile] tray-la-la.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, i so needed ticky boxes for this! but in the end i had to go with 'fathers who could do with a spot of sinning.'

it's ahead in the polls, but i am prepared to beg in the event of a close race. :)
