In further heatwave developments ...

38° C (100°F) today. J snapped, went to the shop and bought an AC unit that has two-parts and does not need to be attached to the house.[Poll #1331551]I do not promise to be swayed by the vote, because this lj is a monarchic system. Feel free to supply supporting arguments. I realise that I haven't supplied nothing as an option, but with this level of logorrhoea, that's hardly an option ;-)[Poll #1331551]

My vote is self explanatory.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, and because you are the first person I know what it is, though I don't think I can necessarily tell that for subsequent people unless I happen to check each time (which is beyond my level of OCD). Though I think I know what Shiv will say ...

Dodgy mpreg is always a good choice. XD Also, YES, TOO HOT. We were the same as you today. I am now resorting to sleeping in my lounge room, on the couch, because I cannot open my bedroom window (when we got burgled the screen was ripped off and still has not been replaced, and I'm too frightened to sleep with a ground-level window open).

(I have agreed to attend a birthday party between 12 and 7pm tomorrow in a PARK. Why oh why do I do these things? I will melt for sure.)

Sunscreen, parasol, and a cooler full of ice that you can stick your head into when needed! Good luck!

[identity profile] emerald-dragon8.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The sunscreen is already packed and waiting, I burn too easily! It's my stupid pale skin. And I hate looking tanned as well. I was so not meant to be an Australian. XD

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear your pain! (And we have very similar colouring judging by your photos.)

[identity profile] lidda-anne.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy Cow. I can't believe how hot it was today... I felt like I would literally melt...it's not fair :P lol!

[identity profile] bryoneybrynn.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a long version of Act of Simple Devotion??? *dies* That's one of my very favouritest stories ever. See, I'm reduced to four-year-old speak at the very idea.

*tries to hide other responses from view*

Look! It's the only one with any votes! Clearly you have to do it now!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there's a half-page of notes ... Alas, I think your wish will be delayed in the interests of finishing more easily achievable things, but it's looking good for this year ;-)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW! At least the rain has cooled things down, though if it's hot again tomorrow, that will just mean air soup. Sigh!

[identity profile] bryoneybrynn.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Woot!! This is going to be a good year, I think. I just have a vibe. Everyone's doing a little less festing, concentrating on different things a little bit more. More energy for the fests that do happen (and I FULLY expect you to follow Beltane missy!) and more free-inspired ficcage. And of course the wrapping up of long abandoned fics that shall remained nameless on both our parts, yes? ;)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've not abandoned anything! They have been well tended at home in private! *Is good fic parent*

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't take the poll, as I would vote for multiple answers:

A Single Wizards Guide to Fatherhood (aka dodgy mpreg)

The HP Steampunk Holmesian fic I began for Leochi (OMG, yes!!!)

Fathers Who Could Do With a Spot of Sinning

These Fragile Bonds (which four people read, and has been shamefully neglected)

The long version of An Act of Simple Devotion

The dystopian HP fic set in the United Theocracy of America (WHAT??? DID I MISS THIS??????)

Her novel (YES, and let me read it!!!)

Her updated CV and find a job with a nice European publisher

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Single Wizards is being written at the moment, albeit slowly because my brain is mush. Fathers and the Leochi story are slated for conclusion in the near future. Fragile has about 40 pages in longhand that can be typed up into the next two chapters as soon as I have time to concentrate.

The UTA fic is my newest one. At the moment it is three scenes and about two pages of notes, but I am excited about the idea!

And poor old novel keeps being put aside for fic. Boo!

You should try living in Texas, luv.
100F for three months.
Add humidity to that, and you've got wet, hot, hell.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It could never happen, I would either die or live in the supermarket chiller aisle.

And poor old novel keeps being put aside for fic. Boo!

The fatal error! It's really hard to do both at once.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I am thinking that a one-month on, one-month off sort of arrangement could work ;-)

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Let me know if it does!

[identity profile] cinnatart.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY YOU CAN HAS COOLNESS. =P

So, if my vote loses, can I request an update for my b-day? =P That's in March. =P

I'm totally posting this from my bed, btw. Under like five quilts, one of which is electric and set on number 6. =P

First year I moved to Texas, I claimed fridge space next to the tomatoes. Needless to say, I had to learn to live with the heat.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It stays above 30 and soupy here for months on end, but 40 and humid is a whole new level of horror. Today's 40 was at least desert dry!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee ;-)

Depends on what your vote was! I hope all of us have saner weather soon. No climate change my arse!
arobynsung: (Default)

[personal profile] arobynsung 2009-01-15 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of Texas is something nearing a desert, so there goes that. I used to live in the tropics, bliss. That whole well runs dry thing takes on new meaning in a TX summer.

*sends you cool chill thoughts*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be shocked, but thrilled ;-)
