Anyone know the ffnet maintainers?

Because I think it is admirable that they are attempting to encourage standards, despite all evidence to the contrary, however:

"Please note that it can take up to 4-8 hours for your story to be publically listed and be available through the search engine."

does not inspire the confidence it could.

And, for something mostly different. [profile] calanthe_fics  is one of my favourite writers, though I suspect that she enjoys torturing me. MONTHS after posting the last thing she wrote, she is back in the land of fic production. Her new story is here, and it's called Gush. As to the torture, well, it's as well written as all her stuff, set during the Harry stalking Draco part of HBP (my fave fanon period!) and involves manipulations and mind games.

And the sort of kink that has me squealing and hiding behind my hands. Because I am easily sent into the Doctor Who Watching Position.

What sort of kink, you ask? Well, she rejected my suggestion that she call it Floods of Passion, if that's any help. It's brilliant stuff, showing just exactly how far Draco Malfoy was prepared to go to keep his secrets that year (quite some way indeed!)

I'm truly sorry, I know this comment actually belongs in an older post, but it's late and I have lurched out of my warm bed to babble to you about 'Vampire Fair', because of course Becky *Sharp* is a vampire!
Right, back to bed.

Mwah!

Thank you! I get home to find my inbox so full of membership requests that it's gone over the page!

it's CAL so i want to read it but i don't know if i can! i remember there was one fic from a fest [i can't remember who wrote it] where watersports was mentioned but in a very tongue-in-cheek hurrr hurrr way, which made it bearable, but..

i dunno.
eep.

i think 2009 is my year for trying new things when it comes to fandom. i've already read a number of pairings and kinks i never thought i would..so perhaps i can give watersports a try too.

So, 'piss off' didn't make it into the list of possible names for the fic? ;)

Unless there's something new I'm not aware of, I don't think they mean any sort of moderation (the volume is far too high), just that it can take a while for your new submission to be indexed in the database and able to come up in searches.

(As for "standards", pet peeve, I know they are trying to stop people from using all kinds of wacky control characters and from just posting garbage or ASCII pr0n or trying to hack by posting code or anything stupid like that, but I really wish they'd adopt sensible and consistent policies for what text characters are and are not allowed.)

I am so tired that this survived my first skim through it. Then the copy editor in my brain whispered that something is not right! (Like poor Miss Clavel.) I think support@fanfiction.net would be the best bet, but they probably get so many emails...

Also, re: Becky Sharp == vampire: This is so perfect. A bloodsucking social climber! She's only doing it because she needs to!

....publically? Really?
