Sometimes we have little cross-cultural moments ...

Me in IM: TROTT HAS HIS CENTURY IN HIS MAIDEN TEST!!!
And Pingrid, just trust me that is good.

Pingrid (who is Norwegian): uh, I will!
what is it good IN?

and later:
Pingrid: I approve of cricket, in the way one approves of things that are mysterious but which feature fit men in vintage style clothes.

On a separate note, if you or any of your friends are in Australia and have been too poor to buy The Demon's Lexicon (or bought the spooky hardback cover and long for the paperback), you might be interested in this page, which has a giveaway at the bottom. Historically, very few people enter web-based giveaways that require effort, so your chances are good!

I am watching, which I should probably stop doing in case a gale blows in from nowhere ... But Oh! Stuart and Trott and Flintoff ...

I know all the words in that caplocked sentence, I am pretty sure I do, but somehow I vaguely suspect you are talking about cricket only because it's mentioned below. :g: Not to mention I know what cricket is, in the sense that it's a team sport that we don't have around here, and you need a field and a ball and bats to play it, but I totally went to google it because I had no visual idea of what it is like...

...and now it just ended up third on my list of sports that make no sense whatsoever, right after baseball and Am football. Though I do approve of the men! :D

It doesn't make any sense now, but 150 years ago cricket was perfectly logical.

I want a T-shirt design that says that, which I shall send to several of my American friends.

If all else fails when watching cricket, there are almost always a few good looking men to distract you ;-)

I am watching live, which means that we have only taken two wickets and the Australians have hit over 100 runs. I should probably go to bed so we can win quickly ...

*Misses you, too*

And I am feeling better about my decision not to hd_hols when I look at all the people hoping for lottery spots. Though I will pinch hit if you need me!

You'd love cricket, BTW.

I tried reading about cricket on wikipedia and I read the words but don't understand the meaning :) This sport is so foreing to me that the only thing I knew was that they all wore white outfits.

It is one of those things that does require a local to talk you through it.

To this day my knowledge of gridiron is very limited since it has been wholly formed by American teen films. I think I could possibly explain what a quarterback does ...
