I have long thought that there is little point remaining in journalism, as the medium appears to be dead. The alleged premier television news service in Australia has just run an advert in which the voiceover ran along the lines of: 'Dust storms, torrential rain, now the heatwave in the west. How will Sydney cope? Turn to the news that will see you through all the weather.'

The really upsetting thing about this is that there is also obviously no point in turning to a career as a satirist, because how does one top that?

LOL!

Yes, we get a LOT of weather!NEWS in Canada, as you can imagine with the range of our weather. Cold alerts, heat alerts, tornado watches, power outages, storm warnings blah blah blah. And every year there are news specials on "how are you coping with the heat/cold/rain/winds" and every year people say the same shit. Everyone takes pictures of their snowed in houses and cars or their dead, cracked gardens or whatever.

And whenever we have a stretch of more severe weather, they give it a name "Stormwatch 2008" "WinterThreat 2006" or whatever. So fucking lame.

Though I will say EVERY YEAR people forget how to drive in the snow. First snowfall will see 100's for accidents in one day. It's a little alarming.

Thank goodness we have our local action news team to see us through the meteorological turmoil!!
