Odd day ... I began it hanging out with make-up artists and discussing why the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is less exciting than it used to be. (A bit it's organised more on money than art lines these days, a bit we're all old.) Then I trekked back to the hairdresser where Rebecca the lovely colourist de-purpled my hair. It is now REMARKABLY red. So much so that everyone I have seen since then has commented on it. I rather like it, but it is a bit of a shift from my usual Straighter than Hermione Granger do. I fear I'm hitting Lily Evans, if not actual Weasley.

I ended with a celebration for the birthday of the ever-lovely [livejournal.com profile] dumbys_baby . She is 100% responsible for me being in fandom, as I wrote my first ever fic for her the other year. Alas, she has not written anything in ages, which is a bugger, because she is a delightful writer, but an even more delightful chick! I'm not sure if you'll ever read this, lamington, but you know I miss you!

Of course, this is an auspicious day, as it is also the birthday of [livejournal.com profile] i_autumnheart . HAPPY BIRTHDAY darling! I am always a little jealous of the ease at which you seem to conquer every new art and skill you set yourself to, but your grace and enthusiasm make it impossible to be really envious. And your encouragement is a gorgeous thing. Though I do blame you for my unhealthy fondness for Skandar.

But wait! We're not done! [livejournal.com profile] under_an_oak  was born 29 years ago today! Darling, you are really still a wee young person with fabulously unlined skin, enjoy it while it lasts! I hope that hot boys from bands continue to appear and celebrate with you for the rest of the week!

Last, but anything but least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] celandineb , may your day be full of accomplishments and joy. From food to poetry, your taste and willingness to share snippets of your life bring me many smiles and moments of head nodding. Here's to generous present fairies!

In other news, the really tremendously interesting and talented [livejournal.com profile] chantefable  has launched a fantastic fundraising mission where she is auctioning off a fic a month for the highest bidders who donate to her list of major charities. Not only are these groups helping Haiti, but they are all now working in Chile as well, so the ongoing need for support is even more vital. Check out her post here!

[livejournal.com profile] treacle_tartlet , who I love very dearly, but who I am afraid is finally losing her mind, has committed crossover skater fic. Worse, I'm somewhat to blame. Go and read it, it's madness but wholly worth it for the Uther comments on glitter. Ah treacle, I am your dumby ... Actually, considering how cool dumby is, that's not so bad :-)

Oh! And [livejournal.com profile] snottygrrl , the package is finally in the post!

I looked at the header on your fic and did a Macaulay Culkin-like "AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I am going to read it now.

Have never actually seen a hamster on speed, but two of the milk cows did get into the marijuana crop on one of the communes I used to go to. Poor things looked more perplexed than usual ...

You're very welcome!

I was much 'who is sending me packages from Australia??'

It was you!

And they are awesome colours - and the Mavala is the most sophisticated thing I own!

YIPPEE!

To get that to you, I:
* Packaged it all up and went to post it in Australia.
* Was told nail polish was banned from the post because if we have manicures the terrorists win.
* Looked about for a friend going to England.
*Found a friend going to New Zealand and gave it to him.
* He gave it to a Kiwi friend going to the UK, along with some Kiwi cash from my stash.
* She popped it in her bag and found a post office in her travels, and since the Royal Mail is less insane than Australia Post, it made it to you!

HURRAH! Only two or three months after I meant it to ... Very pleased you like the colours :-) Now I just need to find someone going to America ...

kerryblaze is going to Australia from Philadelphia very soon... maybe you could get them to her at the sci fi convention??

Which sci fi convention is she going to? I am actually attending my first ever con in Melbourne in April, and I have friends in Sydney who are attending the two that are coming up here, so the chances are very good that there will be someone at the right one ;-)

This is all hysterically amusing -- underground nail varnish railways, what has the world come to? But I will pass on your thanks, they'll be chuffed.

omg - she is doing Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne... I don't know anything about the cons, but this really seems doable!

Well, I'm in Sydney and am a wiz at getting about, so yes! It does! Thanks, that would be lovely!

Hi!! *waves*

Red hair is very pretty. I used to do mine red but the upkeep is kind of a pain and the awesome shine fades so fast. :( But that first week with newly red hair? AWESOME.

HELLO! I am hoping that it will hold reasonably well, in my old days of coloured hair adventures it was pretty decent, the one advantage of baby fine hair, aside from fast drying. It could perhaps lose the fire engine gleam along my part, though ;-)

Skandar, mmmmm. Skandar/Will, Skandar/Ben, Skandar/Will/Ben... I ship it.

Treacle's fic scares me more than somewhat. But I will brave it and go off to read.

Did you see [livejournal.com profile] jerakeen's Johnny Weir/Stéphane Lambiel fic? I was her beta. You should go read it.

Oh, you noticed my auction! *g* I decided to be fearless and not reject sparkly vampire smut like you did. I'm even a bit disappointed nobody wants it! LOL

Red is beautiful, shiny, and cheerful. Yay new hair colour!
