Advent-ures in advent!

To those on my flist who celebrate Yule at the solstice, I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Today is a bit auspicious, astrologically speaking: both the solstice and a lunar eclipse. I took a photo of the eclipse just after moonrise in Sydney, sadly a little after totality (couldn't be seen from here), though, having said that, there'd be little point taking a photo at a total eclipse ...

As to the fabbo Christmas lights we saw the other night, here's a shot:

The tree is made of LED flex with hazard lights and recycled plastic cones over orange hazard mesh:

And the trunk is old milk crates:

It's champion!

That's an awesome tree - and so very orange.

I went out to the point to watch the eclipse from here, but sadly the cloud on the horizon was just too thick to see the 15 mins of totality that should have been visible. So only the re-emergence from here, as well.

Great recycled tree!

I didn't know there was an eclipse, but the moon looks extra beautiful today with the clear sky and clean air.

Thanks for the photo of the eclipse. It was too overcast with clouds here last night to even SEE the moon, let alone the eclipse. I was really disappointed!

Why? The moon turns red. It's not like taking a photo of a new (dark) moon. Lunar Eclipse Dec.21.2010 for instance.

The tree looks awesome!

My brother and I saw the eclipse as the moon was about half visible after the eclipse. There was too much low lying cloud until about 7:15pm or so and then it slowly became more visible as the cloud shifted.

There's supposed to be another one in July and December 2011
