Christ on a bike this is late ... OK, while this will probably not make a lick of difference to the voting (and what a weird saying that is now I look at it), please still comment if you read any of these.

People thrashed themselves for this fest, and whether any team wins or loses, people reading their stories is the only reward most writers were after. A quick comment to say thanks if there was anything you like about a particular story will take you about 40 seconds and make the writer feel spectacular.

One little note, a lot of people have discussed the fact that there are a lot of spelling and grammar issues with some WC stories; the deadline for this fest was very tight, and utterly inflexible. Many of the best betas were overstretched, and a number of the participants had English as a second or third language. I am amazed at what people achieved under the circumstances.

Serendipity, Prompt: Wheel of Fortune, Wordcount: over 9500
Draco has run away from the world, but a part of it comes running after him. Yes, of course it's the bespectacled Potter part, did you not pay attention to the basic themes of this Festival?
A big red plot device starts the story proudly front and centre, in the form of a potion of rare ingredients that Draco must take. Harry offers his help to obtain the component parts, and a connection between the two develops, one that is threatened by Harry's discovery of the curse that hangs over the Malfoy family.

A classic Harry pursues Draco story but with a twist. the writer has a very interesting take on the fluidity of sexual identity in the wizarding world, and one that I would have liked to see explored further, especially from Narcissa's side -- curse you tight deadlines! The writing style is  fresh and easy, and the climax unexpected.

Subconscious, Prompt: The Moon, Wordcount: 10,172
When Harry accepts an assignment to speak with a Seer being held at St Giles's mental hospital, he thinks he is escaping a directive to work with the Malfoys. So the discovery of Draco Malfoy as his guide to the hospital and patient is less than welcome.
But this Draco is not like the one he knew at school. Instead, he is a dedicated professional who is working diligently to heal a broken young girl, or, if healing isn't possible, to protect. And it may be that he will need to protect her from Harry.

The scope of imagination in this story is deeply impressive. From cunning twists on canonical magic to a truly scary scene inside an unhinged mind, this is a seriously original work. There are some technical issues with the story, but it requires exactly two neurons to get past them, and it's an effort exceptionally worth making.

The Touch of Your Hand, Prompt: The most important H/D moment from the books, Art
One of the most spectacular pieces of fanart I have seen in a long time, the artist focusses on the moment when Harry finally does take DRaco's hand, but also everything that has come before and will come after that moment. A very clever use of animation without losing sight of the image's form; and take a look at the shapes of the last panel. Wholly brilliant stuff.

Sorry chaps, I meant to finish this today, but things started off chaotically and have ended in a pounding headache, and no amount of sofa napping is combatting that. I've missed five Team EWe fics and one art, please check them out, they are all worth the effort!

I tried to keep up, I really did and I betcha I missed some brilliant jewel of a story because I just couldn't. I started doing ennie minnie minny moe as a way of choosing what to read, or looking at Wordcount and tackling the biggest contender so I'd feel less guilty thinking other people would choose the one with the least amount of words-- and I almost didn't comment directly on any fic so most likely people will never see my comments (which I'm a bit of glad for because you never know if you'll offend anybody). I really wish I could have read everything and voted on everything because people WROTE this stuff and put up a great deal of effort but I think I'll still be reading W_C fics come next year.

I'm in *exactly* the same bucket. I was doing really well for about a week, and then it all fell apart as RL leapt up and down on my head. But still, the internet is not going anywhere, and comments count more than votes to the writers!

Again, thanks so much for doing this for our team, whether or not you finished. I still have one to read from our team, and another 13 from the various others. *frets*

I am, however, determined to finish, because as you said, people put so much into their work, and it all deserves reading.
