GAHH!

I am the first to admit that someone should award me an honorary PhD in procrastination, but for the first time in my life my storytelling has been thwarted by my good behaviour.

I am unable to recall a single incident when I have shagged or snogged anyone wearing glasses*.

I've had to put my old sunglasses onto a handpuppet to work out logistics. And, naturally, that required another handpuppet on the other hand to keep the proportions right. Let me just say that I am glad the window in this room opens onto the garden. You would not believe the time it took!

And you thought the ukulele would be the acme of my ridiculousness this week ...**

* Surely I must have, but a taxi to the head is a powerful remover of random snoggage recollection!
** 10 notes! Three chords! Two songs!

I would give a great deal to see you working out the logistics of kissing with glasses using handpuppets and sunglasses. A great deal *vbg*.

And I'm extremely pleased that it means kissing is now occurring. Do I dare hope your end of the week deadline holds?

It is looking good, though will also be dependent on my poor longsuffering beta.

I think that having a lot of drama and ballet in my early life has done bad things to my head as I am congenitally unable to not block a scene physically as I tell it (NB, this does not always translate into effective action on my part, but that is due to occasional dimness rather than not thinking about it ;-))

And yes! There is snogging! (Lester and Fotherington have finally realised what an unstoppable force they could be together ...)

Off to bed so I have a writing brain in the morning! Later in the morning ...

I always prefer at the very least to visualise things in 3D very clearly before writing/doing/whatever, so I can relate to that. I would still have *loved* to see it though. And Lester and Fotherington, yes LOLOL, knowing you...

To bed and may you wake refreshed and eager to finish the scene. (hides ukulele until it's done, though congrats on your progress)

Don't forget the impact of hair. If it's long enough, then it can (and does) get caught in the arms and even the hinges. And that in turn can cause the glasses to be pulled off.

Good point! I will tag this entry because it is bound to come up again at some point in my life and there is helpful stuff here!

I'm not quite able to spot the good behaviour in there ;P but I'm glad you're having fun with your dolls, and certain you will find interesting uses of spicing up the shagging with glasses, or by the lack of them.

Less snogging than there could have been! At least, I pretend that was good behaviour. You have probably twigged to the fact I was most likely just snogging someone without glasses ...

The lengths you will go to for authenticity deserve recognition on a nation, no, international level. Possibly galactic.

You did remember to stitch in a scar, right? Because it could affect the skin movement and thus alter your outcomes. >.>

Oh, and I will be expecting balcony shadow serenading at some point in the future. :D

I have been listening to Joanna Newsom all day. Have vague plans to learn harp if this ukulele thing works out. If a small strings section appears below your window, you'll know why!

And you've met me, it's all about the detail!

It depends what kind of frame it is. If the frame is more modern and has the spring leg mechanism (as in, it can open outward sideways), then everything is a little easier. And then there's the thing about how the feet are—whether they are separate by easily bendable wires from the frame or if they're molded together with the frame... etc etc etc *evil grins*. Have you considered those factors yet?????

This is helpful stuff! I did put the puppet in my John Lennon style sunglasses because they were the best fit for the model!

I would assume that if the snogging got serious, the glasses would come off - due to worries about breaking them. Guys I have been with who wore glasses took them off - sight or sun types. Of course, a person with very poor eyesight taking off their glasses may be a cause for some ridiculous prose - contacting wrong parts etc.

Glasses coming off does depend on there being somewhere safe to put them down 8-> If one is overcome with passion in some random location (a back alley say) leaving them on may be the best option as there is less chance of stepping on them. (Having not read any of this fic I have no idea if the settings for said snogging but as a long time glasses wearer I offer some experience and yes, they can get bent in the heat of the moment and they often get in the way if you want to kiss someone's neck but I have never had them catch in my hair)

You are making me think of boys I snogged while at school who would somehow end up on one's nose or cheek or eye orbit. At the time I thought they were just incompetent, but they could have been glasses wearers to vain to wear them out to a party!

YES! It's far and away they best method of constructing prose that is both active and involving! All these blurred fight scenes and action sequences in films these days are just irritating, you want some details to focus on so that you know how much it matters!

I know -- all those people I snogged, surely there must have been SOMEONE wearing glasses! I blame the taxi to the head, clearly wiped the memory clear out ...

(Also, that is an image of genius.)

My writing brain is appallingly focussed on making sure things 'would work that way'. This has led to almost unbelievable amounts of procrastination disguised as research over the years ...

And I think I would wear contacts, too!

Why do these things never happen when I'm visiting?

*mournful sighing*

ION, there has been very little blood spilled over the Pumpkin Patch bear, the biscuits have been squirrelled away for bribery purposes next time Small Girl is being obstinate, I had not even noticed my bee earrings were missing, and SUNGLASSES OH HOW I'VE MISSED YOU I THOUGHT I LEFT YOU ON THE PLANE.

The pile kept growing as we got better and were more able to look! The earrings had been popped into a basket of clean laundry. I know not what you were thinking, nor what Mr B was thinking when he decided to store said basket beside the guest bed ;-)

And we had cock!

But I will play my ukulele for you next time and you will love it!

ahh, my girl and I both wear glasses all the time but usually they come off before anything gets very far.
Mind you we are both boring and so rarely get up to anything without being on the bed so there is a bedside table right there to conveniently hold the glasses safe.

Would love to see the puppet show *g*

And congrats on the ukulele! I have a friend in Canberra who just bought one and is learning too.
I don't think my left hand would be up to it.

Oh and just wanted to check you got the books back.

I did! And I loved the little drawing! Thank you!

I have done a few puppet shows over the years and usually have more focus on the scripts than on the actual puppeting. Now I feel I should do another one because I have finally worked out puppet love scenes!

And I am finding the Uke reasonably easy on the hands. There are a lot of bar chords available to make things easier (I think that's what they're called), or you can string it in reverse and play it with your right hand doing the fingering. Only 4 strings, so it's not hard!

And thank you, too, for the glasses input based on facts rather than not wholly sensible methodology!

I am so relieved that you can see the method in my madness! And when I can actually play the uke, I will get a tune up for you (NB this may take some little while ... aside from my general tardiness, I am still largely crap ;-))

...logistics?

If you both wear glasses it can be a bit of a dodging act, depending on the frame. You probably will get a couple of clunks together. (I'm a longtime glasses wearer; so is my husband.) If only one participant is wearing glasses then personally I've never found it to be a problem, though they tend to come off for sex or for kissing that continues heavier/for a longer time.

Yeah, it's just one person. The puppets suggested that for general kissing they were fine, for things that were more exploratory/energetic/acrobatic, not the best, which seems to tally with your experience -- thanks for the sane input, BTW!

I did think of you and how one would go about navigating a snog! I was blocking out a sequence in a story I am writing and trying to work out at which point glasses might move from being fine to awkward. Also, if I ever do another puppet show, have now worked out far more effective method for romantic scenes ... ;-)

(SO wish I was coming over this year, I had France and Switzerland on my planning list. Alas, torpedoed :-()
