Oh good grief ...

This week remains unhelpful.

Finger is broken (though not badly, all will be well once it stops hurting), then poor young Heath, and now MY MAGAZINE HAS FOLDED!

Now, I do not grow deeply attached to titles and workplaces for the very reason that I am familiar with the vagaries of publishing, but I really enjoyed working there and it was with the smartest and most interesting team I had ever encountered. So ... BUGGER!

Will be fine, there is redundancy pay so I do not need to dip into savings, and I also have three weeks' leave even after the hols, just ... BUGGER!

At least I can now spend a few more days in New Zealand than I looked like being able to. That's good. And if the pay-out comes through quickly and some writing gigs fall into place, I can make it up to Welly for a bit and badger people for more work! And June in Paris is back on the agenda! So really, there are plenty of silver linings, I'll just miss my workmates.

Crap! Sorry about that. Funny how things like that have a way of happening without notice. Here's hoping a new opportunity comes your way soon. And what will you be doing in Paris in June?

It's my friend's 30th and she is trying DESPERATELY not to spend it in Latvia, because it is always eaten by Midsummer, so I suggested that Paris would be a good compromise, easy for the Brit crew and not hard for the Baltic, Aus and Amer teams. Also .. Paris!

And yes, is bad news. At least I know I will have work. Just not the work I was enjoying. Bloody private equity owners. Although late breaking news has one of the other local moguls suggesting he is interested in buying up the whole shebang; and his publishing house is my favourite! Not holding hopes up too high, though.

Paris in June = fun! Great shopping, great food.

What on earth are you doing awake right now?

I'm crossing my fingers for you as far as the latest news is concerned.

I am fuelled by sugar and alcohol!! And about to go flubble.

The best of all possible worlds would be a redundancy cheque followed by employment at another publishing house with the same team, because I could then afford an unpaid month in June!
