Was reading Ring for Jeeves the other day and burst out laughing. Colonel Aubrey Wyvern's third-rate domestic staff are named Trelawny and Bulstrode.

Also, Happy Birthday [personal profile] raitala! And happy birthday for tomorrow, [personal profile] draykonis.

In sad news, Min cat is now out of chances and is living out her last weeks with all the salmon she can fit in.  The lovely vet assistant from the uber vet dropped round her pain meds this evening. She doesn't need them tonight, but it's good to have them. Poor brave kitty.

So there's no way to operate, then?

Poor Min: at least she'll be living out her last days in comfort and style. She's probably wondering why you waited so long to bring out the salmon.

She did have some before! Just not so often ...

Alas, no, it's through her windpipe, and any operation that could remove it all would be too traumatic for her at this stage. Though we did both buy lottery tickets so that we could say to the vet: "Bugger the cost! Is there a miracle cure you've always wanted to try?"

But on the other hand I've seen people through their last days of cancer and at some stage the cure is what kills you. As it is, she is comfortable and having fun. That's something good.

Yes, it's better than if she was suffering. People often die from complications of chemo or decreased immunity as a result, so I'm glad she's relaxing at home instead of stuck at the vet hospital.

Also, small animal surgery is difficult and risky. I have tried to avoid it for my cats whenever possible. The anaesthesia alone can be a problem.

She is extremely happy to be out of kitty gaol. Though we've had to hide the carrier so she doesn't give it suspicious looks. I'm really hopeful they'll be able to make a housecall, we're just across the road, after all.
