Had a knock on the door to day. Staggered from bed with my hair birdsnesty and a J shirt preserving my dignity (I am coming down with a cold and had spent the morning in bed), I peered out from behind the door to see a familiar face.

My friend and his partner have moved in next door! Hurrah!

In other news, the Monster kitten continues to pick up her favourite toys and bring them to my feet where she drops them and looks up at me with a hopeful expression until I toss them about for her to chase. I knew that letting her watch Lassie Come Home was a mistake.

Back to the fest writing!!

ETA: Leochi drew her! It's wonderful!

Yayes!

Except for the cold - :(

*sends tea and hot lemon toddies and soft aloe tissues*

Loki managed to commit the unforgivable tonight - he knocked the vase with the dozen long stemmed roses that my partner had given me (best apology he's managed for a while) off the cabinet in the living room - despite supervision and repeated suggestions that going near it would lead to kitty death. >.>

Two soggy bath towels, one damp antique print, one very damp carpet and rug later, I now have eleven long stemmed roses, and a completely unrepentant cat.

Whee! However, I am WRITING! OMG! *dies of shock*

I KNOW! You temptress, I have resisted reading your chapter due to the evil deadline of doom but you are my reward!

BAD Loki! I hope the print recovers, and am sorry about the rose. The girls have been very well behaved limiting their knowcking over to CDs and cards off shelves.

Cold means I am going to hold of visiting till next week, when flights are much cheaper and more available, too, and I won't be infecting your fair city. Thursday to Friday or Saturday, I think.

Huh? Have you read my silly WiP? *looks dazed and probably confused*

I don't think I've ever been anyone's reward before... I'm gobsmacked!

I suspect I should be showering and going to sleep as C has to be up at 5am as he's back on shifts this week (long live ill workmates). Instead I'm feverishly writing the next chapter - 10 months of nada...and now I can't stop typing. I suspect it's all garbage, but hey... *watches fingers fly*

Next week is ok - cold is bad *makes wardy fingers* - I hope it doesn't get horrible. I am excited. I would dance, but if I start jiggling seismic meters go off in Gippsland.

*hugs*

*glares at the evil deadline of doom*

I started and then stopped because I could see the festival of reading and not writing approaching. Looking forward to it!!

And the cold feels mild, just annoying.

Thanks dear! I am very excited about the new neighbours.

Monnie is so funny, I must buy a new camera to replace my broken one as I feel the need to YouTube her. Oh I am lame ...

oh that's awesome that your friend is next door to you! good time, good times.

hey! maybe you should right a mary sue fic...when in your new neighbors knock on your door to say hi, and it turns out to be harry and draco? :P

what fest are you writing for this time? just so i can keep my eyes peeled, you know?

*hands you tissues*

Date: 2008-06-03 02:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
Thanks for the tissues! I have aloe vera ones, so not so bad. It's the AS/S fest, which has some good stuff up so far.

Can you imagine having Harry and Draco as your neighbours?

Brammers knew it was time to move when the eighth set of Death Eaters knocked on her door by mistake. After sending them next door, and listening for the defensive hexes, she waited for the musical knock that always heralded an apology.

This time it was Draco, with a cake. "Um, sorry about that, glad that no one was AK-ed. How are the kitties?"

From: [identity profile] empress-jae.livejournal.com
i figured it was AS/S. ;)

omg. between the constant death eaters and the melodious groans of animal noised buttsecks, you'd porbably never get any sleep either.

...the musical knock ...

HA. draco is so gay. :D

I am trying to convince her that she wants to bring me books instead of fluffy cat toys. It is not working yet, I may need to spray them with catnip.

Cheers, dear! I wish the brain was working better as I want to finish this damn story. Commenting on your last masterpiece is only one of the things I am behind on!

From: [identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com
Yes, well, I haven't commented on your stuff yet either, and I can't even claim illness as an excuse, just lame-brainedness. :)I'm just thrilled that you've read it! :D

Very much looking forward to your story - this is the one for the ASS fest, yes?

Yes, and I am taking FOREVER. I think that the unexpected huge workload of the last few months has sucked out my brain. And now a cold ...

I Loved it, and I have gone back to my lacemaking as a result for reasons that are perfectly clear in my brain and will be considered mad by all others. Of course, given the lack of time that means I have added 2cm to the length, but it's something!

Date: 2008-06-03 01:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com
:D Lacemaking FTW! I have bobbin lace things somewhere, but I've never managed to actually learn how to do it, so yeah. But do tell what the reasons are - they're almost more or less naked in that one! ;)

I hear you about the slow writing. I'm trying to write a tight piece of dirty Renaissance crossdressing porn, and all I'm managing is long-winded romance. bah. I'm almost ready to give it up as a bad job and just move on.

Please do take care and don't run yourself completely into the ground with the workload and the illness on top of the writing - sleep some, woman! I'll admit I worry about you a bit. :)

The kitties and J take good care of me.

Bobbin lace is surprisingly easy and fun! I am still on my first length, but it's a few feet long and didn;t take long to get to the 'good' stage. And it was the lost nightcap at the beginning; I immediately thought of spangles (which I have just acquired a nice set of), and from there went straight to lace.

I wouldn't mind Ren Cross dressing romance, you know. And now I must get back to my next gen saga of doom.

Date: 2008-06-03 08:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com
Good to know that the furry and manly care is covered! :) And good luck with the saga of doom; hopefully your brain will clear and it'll just pour out of you tomorrow.

Bobbin lace fascinates me, but unfortunately it's useless for my period so I should probably try for some Opus Anglicanum instead. If I ever manage to tear myself away from the computer for long enough to actually make anything again. But mmm, those were gold spangles, yes? Do you have any particular plans for them and the lace, possibly for the JA Colloquium? Or is that purely an academic, plain clothes event?

Date: 2008-06-05 11:51 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
Purely academic, I am afraid. I will be dressed Very Sensibly. And yes, gold spangles, which I picked up in Adelaide; I'm going to do a bulk order from Canada the next time I am flush. Have you ever used the great Canadian goldwork supplies shop? Might be a good source for the Opus Anglicanum gold ...

What type of silk do you use, by the way?

Date: 2008-06-05 05:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com
No, I've never used the Canadian gang - now I'm wondering if you pointed me there earlier and I just forgot, because it does sound familiar. Where are they, again?

I only have silk embroidery floss that I'm not entirely happy with; it's spun (I haven't ever found any reeled), and the twist is too tight so I don't get that completely smooth look. If you know of any good online places that have a shiny, loosely spun floss I'd be very interested! Although I probably won't ever have a billion millon hours to spend on any decent piece of OA, I'd like to know that I just _have_ the supplies, you know? :)

Garlic and Catnip and Mint in tea. Seriously.

Catnip? I had lemon ginger and mint with a dash of honey ...

From: [identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com
A friend of mine back home was a herbalist and catnip is good for stuff in your chest and throat. She'd put catnip, fresh mint and chopped garlic into boiling water and let it steep. The mint was mostly to make it drinkable.

Hmm - creative encouragement, perhaps? Water turned off at the meter, or snails in their letterbox are a bit old-school...Phantom kittens at the window in the middle of the night? You could train puppy!cat to be a haunt!

I could pop both kitties into the roof cavity of a night, there's no insulation between ours and theirs and it sounds like elephants when they go up to their attic storage. The girls playing chaseys should be at least wildebeast ...

She does!

The kittens are a wealth of hilarity, though Monster's insistence that she can hold on better to me if she has her claws out is beginning to make me look like an emo cutter ...

I've heard of dogs behaving like cats, but never of cats behaving like dogs. Sounds so cute.

WHAT A GORGEOUS KITTEN!!!!!

I played that video the other night while I was brushing my teeth and the Monster kitten, who normally sits beside the sink splashing in the water, leapt down and ran around the bathroom looking for the kitten.

Yes, she also likes water. She really does think she is a puppy ...

Fest fic continues, cold is worse. Bleagh! But thanks for the well wishes and the amusement with the music!

:) He's all grown up now, but still adorable. Even the dogs like him (but the other 2 cats don't).

It's already winter in Australia, right? For me, the best cure for a cold is to sit in the sun. I can send you as much virtual sunshine and warmth as you like, it's about 30 degrees (C) here...
