The remaining Ikea shelves are up, the locals have taken care of the old bookshelf (in 15 minutes! New record time!). The books are mostly sorted, the duplicates are ready to be given away (and WHO has three copies of The Dubliners? What was I on?!) and old magazines that I have no articles in ready to be recycled.

So, after a weekend of domestic virtue, in which I even fed some friends' cats and helped a promising young writer with beta-ing, you would think that the universe would reward me with a warm inner glow.

No. Aching wisdom teeth. Sigh. And Revenge of the Sith is the only non-Olympic related thing on telly. Bah. Anything that can make Ewan MacGregor seem charisma-free is to be shunned. I am taking my book and my hot toddy and going to bed.

You have done Very Well and have every reason to be Pleased. :) Or Grumpy, because the wisdom teeth thing doesn't seem fair. Can I cheer you with shared misery and sad tales of our "summer", which today is back to 15 degrees and rain?

I'm so sorry. We had 16 degrees and sunny periods.

It's SO not fair, it's not as though I am particularly wise. I suppose I should just have them out, but it seems so pointless to remove perfectly good teeth just because they occasionally shift and ache.

*ponders move to Australia*

I think they made a mistake and gave you modesty teeth instead! It need not be a waste, you can make jewelry from them, or carry them around in a small pouch as a conversation piece.

Oh, honey. <3

Thank you for feeding the cats!

I gave one away today in the street-box of housecleaning. You are more than welcome, the cats were very sweet to visit. Sorry your trip was filled with chaos, but YAY for the wedding!

Bah, i s right. Worst of the three horrible prequels. Definitely.

I had my wisdom teeth removed when I was 19 -- I don't feel any less wise. Which I guess isn't saying anything really: as is quite the norm, I wasn't particularly wise at 19. That being said, I never do have to deal with an attack of wisdom teeth pain. And believe me when I tell you that their absence has not affected my eating whatsoever. So, there's some wisdom for you.

Just how do you make the fundamentally sweet Star Wars story into such a pile of bilge? It's the Dark Side!

Heh. Yes, I doubt teeth and wisdom can really be joined. As it turned out, it seems that was just part of a general viral infection I've picked up, so ear and throat went manky, too. But I have lozenges to ease the pain until my immune system can take out the virus. Which is better than taking out teeth!

HaHaHaHa! And how! Although the Episode 3 is only bad, unlike the other prequel and spin-off abominations. The final Vader/Obi Wan battle is worth watching. (Vader's sexy when he's all sweaty in the lava river. *shrug*)

Sorry about the wisdom teeth. :(

Right. Obi Van should have worn a kilt. :D

Actually, with all the somersaults, that would have made things MUCH better.

That's the bit I think I have seen two or three times on telly. But the choreography is a bit weird, the lightsabres appear to be just waving around at a few points. I felt very sorry for Hayden Christansen, as I've seen him in other things and he's not that bad, but he, too, has his charisma sucked out in this. And it's illogical! GAH!

Teeth have turned out to be part of a general ear/nose/throat badness, which is now starting to mend. And I have lozenges. Mmmmm, lozenges ...

and WHO has three copies of The Dubliners? What was I on?!

Dude. It happens. I, myself, have two copies because when you get it into your head that you just *must* read "The Dead" again or die, there's only one thing to do about it and that's to drive to your nearest bookstore and buy another copy :D

Speaking of The Dubliners check out the frightening one-line synopsizes of each story on Wikipedia. While they're all accurate, they manage to squeeze every drop of magic from the stories until they're just dried up husks. I mean, my god! The synopsis of "Araby" would make God himself weep!

Also, I'm with you on the Olympics. I'm absolutely furious about their happy little lala land tone. I happened to catch a glimpse of footage from Tiananmen Square last night and had to remove myself from the room or risk going off on an hour-long tirade. My husband has been informed he may only watch them with the volume turned down so low that I'm unaware of their presence in my house.

And lastly? The Star Wars movies would be funny if they weren't so very sad. *shakes head* It was quite a feat they accomplished, though: making watching Liam Neeson and Ewan MacGregor about as interesting as watching grass grow is no small undertaking.

Ooooh, that was bad. Thanks for sharing!

It turns out I have four copies of The Hobbit and of Gulliver's Travels, though I will say in my defence that the former is different imprints, which were all presents.

Even the non-Olympic channels have too much coverage on their news, which is how I developed today's irrational hatred for Michael Phelps (the poolside posing was so gauche). I'd avoid the telly, but there's a lot going on!

And YES! How did he do it? It's as though he wrote an anti-script and made anti-films. He has anti-talent!

Umm... well, the partner chick has four copies of Ulysses, although only one of The Dubliners. I mean, need is a relative term, right?

As for that movie, I really don't ever need to see it again. Disappointment would be a major understatement.

She is clearly a cool chick! I have had four copies of Ulysses, but it is regularly stolen. Dubliners never is. Coincidence? I think not ;-)

I remember thinking it would be good to see the Star Wars prequels. Life is just one long sequence of disappointments this millennium.

I, technically, own only two copies of The Dubliners. But I also own a great big anthology book with half of the stories in it. So, I will not judge.

I saw a bit on the news, and there was Michael Phelps carrying on like a complete banana. Boo, and hiss! Though I was very happy about the English girl who won gold in the 400m freestyle!
