Melting!!!

It is 1.35am and 31 degrees at my house.

I was so slaughtered by the day that I fell asleep when I came home, and thus did not manage to go and buy a big bag of ice, which means I cannot have an iced drink as Mr Brammers does not love me and did not psychically intuit my need. Also, I failed to dig out the ice cube trays and make use of the freezer, due to the aforementioned slaughter.

And yes, I have had sorbet or gelato for dinner two days in a row. Given the weather report, this may extend to four by the end of the weekend.

And in case Barnaby Joyce or Ian Pilmer are secretly on my flist, solar activity is currently at a fifty-year low. Also, I really hate both of you.

so completely off topic right, by any chance have you read Genesis by Bernard Beckett?

lol, sounds sticky. if you stick ice packs on your feet your whole body will cool down. i think. well, it does that for me anyway. *sends cooling thoughts your way*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
No, though it looks very good and I have heard that he is very interesting.

You know, I have dozens of ice packs in this house, do you think I can put a hand to any of them?

[identity profile] symetric.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
fgdjdfkghdj!! OMG, it is awesome and i will never forgive you if you do not give it try. EVER. btw how much of a fan are you of Brave New World? bc baby, this blows Orwell and Huxley out the water. well, maybe not but it comes close. wow...

i heard a really sad fact today. apparently the average height of people in the world is increasing. it is so unfair.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I will hunt down a copy! Your rec is good enough for me! I quite like Huxley and Orwell (the latter a little more for his journalism), so I will probably love this.

Eh, it's all the protein. People will go back to a more vegetarian diet one day and we will be closer to global average again!

[identity profile] symetric.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
i simply adore Orwell in every form. it was he who introduced me to utopian based literature and i haven;t looked back since.

you know what worries me. they will keep making things higher and higher and once day an axe wielding maniac will pop around to my house and i will not be able to reach my trusty (and v. heavy too!) copy of world encyclopaedia. i will be at his mercy. *sobs*

Club him to death with your handy footstool!

I survived July and August in Milan by taking lots of cold showers and running nude in the apartment, since any clothing at all was too much. Unfortunately, you don't live somewhere where frequent cold showers is a responsible option. I am *so* glad it has cooled down now, and laugh at how rugged up the locals are getting for what seems like nice, cool, but not cold temps to me.

The nudie run is a popular thing in this house. If you drink a glass of water and dribble some down your front, it is not a bad thing ;-)

sends cold thoughts your way
(ugh that sounds terrible)

*thinks ice pop, penguins, and snow*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
No, it sounds great! We do have indigenous pengiuns in Sydney, you know. Poor little buggers on days like this ...

*sends chilly, rainy weather your way*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
*Receives gratefully!*
*Sends you some of the hot*

[identity profile] winstonmom.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It is so weird to hear you talking about heat. Last Sunday we went to Costco for the only purpose of buying an electric blanket with dual controls. It is getting really cold around here.

Hopes you get some type of cooling breeze.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Alas, more hot and humid, and tomorrow up around the old-school hundred. I plan to stay inside!

[identity profile] treacle-tartlet.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It was quite warm here for a few days!
Of course, now it is cool again, and bucketing down with rain...

*Glares*
*Plans visit*

Is this the bit where I sniff and remind you that you're escaping all this in a matter of days?

Do NOT be complaining about how wet and cold it is in the UK, or there will be a pirate assassin waiting for you at the airport on your return.

38+ here yesterday - and we didn't get your pretty lightning storms. However, we do appear to have had something - won't call it cool, let's call it warm, damp facecloth - of a change come through.

I hate lots of things right now - Barnaby and Ian are somewhere in the list.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
TWO WEEKS! ARGH! I have given up the sewing anything new plan and must now finally remember to book my Eurostar tickets. Sigh. I will be REVELLING in the cold and any wet to hand!

That lightning? 100+ fires. Sighs again.

I cannot believe people listen to men as physically unappealing as those two, with neither of them having the redeeming virtues of charisma or intelligence!

Mr Brammers does not love me and did not psychically intuit my need

This gave me many smiles.

*hugs*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
*Air hugs back* -- is too hot for real hugs. And today is the 'cool' day in the middle. Out to buy a cool top and big bags of ice!

[identity profile] ldydark1.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
I am so sorry you are melting.
I could not help but chuckle and smile
at your post. Esp. about the hubby.

Hot and humid temps. here in the summer
are like a blizzard to me.
All you do is stay inside in the air
conditioning, and little else.

I would try to do things in the early
morning or late at night when it was
cooler.

Be careful in that heat, (sends you
cooling air and gentle breezes)
