Mr B: You know what they say about people who drink limoncello out of Moomin mugs!
Me: Their stinky partners put all the shot glasses on the top shelf?

Does anyone know of a good hotel in Melbourne that either has rooms or suites with free internet, room safes and a bath at anything up to A$300 a night, AND economy rooms at $100 a night, or else has the same qualities as the first set and is right near somewhere nice that fits the last criterion? Treacle and I are going to Melbourne together, and we have different needs!

I am putting my nose back to the grindstone now and will emerge properly in a few days. [livejournal.com profile] feralcheryl , I found some linen several weeks late. You still sewing?

ETA: For those requiring more regular Zombie Elephant hits, here's the update website. He wasn't out and about today, so I didn't go to the zoo. Next week!

Everything tastes better out of Moomin mugs. Fact.

I stayed at Mantra the last time I was in Melbourne - it was very nice! Not too pricey - with the sale going on now you should be able to get rooms at AU$100++. They have a few locations around central Melbourne and the rooms are lovely.

Bad Mr B! Doesn't he know that you're just wee? *g*

And oooo! I am jealous of your Melbourne meet-up! Is this before or after the dropping of the babe? Because seriously, going to have to strap that woman down to get her to rest!!

Oi! Did you see how little I accomplished off yesterday's list? We're heading to Melbourne two weeks after the baby's due :/

lol--I think $300 an acceptable price for an international flight, not a night's lodging. But then, I think that $100 is also too dear for a night's lodging...

Eek! If those are normal hotel prices I think Ping-in-Oz may not happen before at least 2012! (That, or you know. When I Make it Big in shipping, whichever happens first. ;) )

Still reading, btw, and yep, still good!

I've also heard good things about Mantra, but I think the singles start from about $150.

It's been years since I went to the Royal Gardens, but their serviced apartments used to be fantastic and apparently you can get 2 bedroom apartments for $250ish per night. You will LOVE the location. It's off Gertrude St in Fitzroy - easy walk/tram to the city, or a stroll to the cafes, books and clothes on Gertrude/Brunswick/Smith streets.

There wouldn't be many hotels around the $100 mark. Try wotif.com. Or try a hostel which does single rooms. NB Do NOT try any hostels in St Kilda - they are skanky and full of drunken backpackers.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

It's all going to be unsatisfactory as you will be in Iran :-(

Royal Gardens is ideally situated! But I cannot share an apartment with Treacle as she will have a tiny baby and I am the lightest sleeper in the world. Fuck it, I may have to just suck it up ...

The Victoria would be ideal, with their budget rooms and suites, but apparently they recently had bedbugs :-(

we once fitted an entire theatre troupe into one of the bigger flats at the Royal Gardens that would have been 3 or 4 beds. they have two storeys. So it may be no worse than being in the hotel room next door to a crying baby.

I say avoiding bedbugs=brilliant idea. Will keep thinking on it.
