or Femme or Noe ...

That goes double for you Aussies!

Commentator: Of course, in scoring a hundred, Trott scored more than the entire Australian team did in their innings.
Me: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Mr Brammers: I thought you had fanfic to finish.
Me: You're encouraging me to write fanfic?
Mr Brammers: It's better than the gloating.

In other news, my sympathy for Ponting has evaporated with his tanty at the umpire. The wrong umpire at that. And the funniest moment of the day was the stump microphone just before lunch, capturing someone muttering, 'Fuck that, you fuckers ...' Opinion in this house is divided on whether it was Brad Haddin, the Australian wicketkeeper, expressing his frustration, or Kevin Pietersen expressing his determination.

Tuts at tantrum. No one English would ever do that.

Apart from Gatting that one time. And....

My money is on kp. Because the Aussies aren't showing enough fight for it to be the wicket keeper.

And I'm sure your gloating is just lovely.

I've been quite good, really -- warning him against looking at the screen when he walks through the room, telling him when the sports report is coming on the news, so he knows to run away ...

I've even kept the shouts of triumph to an absolute minimum in volume and frequency.

(It's my birthday in a month, no point engendering bad feeling before the gifts have been handed over.)

40% of punter's match fee seems awfully low for a fine but I suppose they need to consider his retirement.

Yesterday he declared, 'I've never liked cricket.' I pointed out that he had liked it when we met. He told me that he had really only liked watching me groan in agony as England lost. Either my pain is hilarious, or he's a complete sadist.

Yeah, I don'† even barrack for Australia, and this is still embarrassing.

So much for the commentators' fond hopes that this was just a *really good* bowling wicket...

I liked the fact that they were at least expressing hope, which is more than most of the media, who were happy to leap onto the Good Ship Our Team Sucks at the first available opportunity.

Now they are saying it's obviously a *really good* batting wicket and that Australia has no excuses. I do hope Australia decides to play properly today - I'd been really looking forward to this match, and while I prefer England to win, I had hoped that it would at least be an interesting game.

I'm woefully sports illiterate (in any country), so can't comment, but I like that Mr. Brammers encouraged the writing of fanfic.

The tantrum was dreadful - what was he thinking?

The match is absolutely amazing! And I can't wait for Cook to score 500 in Sydney...

I don't think he was thinking at all. Though Shiv's comment (above) as to his fine made me lol.

*grins*

Trott was magnificent, wasn't he? Esp. after that little incident with his knee.

And I feel for Mr B, though he has to be less funny if I'm to have true pity :)

The Ponting incident was inexcusable. I know the pressure is outrageous but that's exactly when one shouldn't fall apart as captain.

I missed the stump microphone!!! I wonder if it's up somewhere - what do you reckon, Haddin? Although I think KP could as likely be as, er, expressive!

Trott was amazing. And I can't believe Ponting made such an ass of himself. Well, I suppose I can. But still. I shouldn't have to! *head in hands*

Here's hoping the rest of the innings goes as well tonight. \0/

Sympathy? Ponting? You are more generous of spirit than I.
