Very brief good news, Cookie cat bounced back to health this morning and was home this afternoon. It looks as though it was some single acute episode (very likely a drug reaction) and she should be fine. Still a bit subdued, but very happy to be home. Monster cat has been regularly giving her a lick to get the vet smell off her. She is back in the scarf box shedding on the handknits, her fave!

The vet wrote a note at the end of her aftercare saying that they were all very happy she was well because she is such a sweetie. She is!

I am knackered and have a surprise job interview tomorrow at 3.30, so I am afraid that I will end the weekend as far behind on replies and work as I entered it. Sorry! But thank you so much for all the good cat wishes, it kept us feeling very positive while we fretted!

Me too! I was very worried for a couple of days as she was so very lethargic and not herself. Fingers crossed she manages a full recovery!

I have taken a couple tonight and will do some more tomorrow in a bid to show her shaved patches. She has lost 250g, which is a fair amount in a cat who only weighs a bit over 4kg, but her fluff hides it for the most part. Happily, it means she is STARVING, so the special sick cat kibble is being hoovered up where usually it would be snubbed ;-)

I'm SO relieved that Cookie is ok. :D

Love and snuggles to EVERYONE in the Brammers household, with extra scritchings for the Cookie.

Thank you, darling! I rubbed her shaved neck patch for you, which is starting to grow out a bit and so apparently the Best Place In The World for Scratches ;-)

Glad sweetheart!Cookie is doing better :)

And I suppose I should have understood from a previous post, but it seems you do not have the magazine job anymore? :( I'm sorry about that, and good luck finding a new job!

No, still have that job, this one just has fabulous conditions despite being less fun, so I thought I would throw my hat into the ring and then make a decision between fun and money if they offered it to me :-)

Cookie sends her thanks! Well, she looked up at me when I told her people wish her well, which is almost the same thing ;-)

She received the all-clear yesterday! Apparently it was a drug reaction, but she has completely recovered, save for needing to build up a little stamina and gain some weight back -- she's only fluff and bone the poor wee thing!

Yes! Cookie has always been the healthy one, despite having been in bad condition when we got her. This is the first time shes really been sick, and she apparently decided to do it well. But she is fully back on her paws now, hurrah!

Thank you! The relief was enormous -- and I have spent all week following her and checking on her until she has started giving me a look that I swear is the cat equivalent of eye rolling ;-)

Thank you, dear! Are there no surrendered budgies at the RSPCA? You are such a good budgie human that any bird would be lucky to come to your house!

The interview did! The test afterwards not as well, because it was on a PC, and I spent 12 minutes out of 30 trying to remember how to use the bloody format. They've gone with someone else, while telling me that they loved me and my work, but I had the feeling it would have been a bad fit and worth it only for the money, so I will be better off just fitting in more freelance work for extra cash ;-)

Are "Cookie" and "Monster" actually the names of your cats? Because that is brilliant... Also, yay for improved cat health and returning home! :)

They are indeed ;-) Cookie was her pound name, as she had been abandoned, either just after or just before giving birth to a set of kittens. She had been at the pound for five months before we adopted her, so she had grown quite used to it and we kept it as she is a sweet little cat and it suited her.

When we decided to get another cat to play with her, we ended up with an older kitten (about four months) who was a gangly doofus. Obviously, she was fated to be Monster ;-)

And thank you! She received the all-clear yesterday, so it was just the drugs and she will have no lasting effects. Phew!
