In that other stage of Freelance Hell where I have 10,000 things to do at once and have been laid low with an August Sydney Cold. These are the colds that come at the end of winter, when the lighter, sweeter colds have all been burned out in the fiery furnace of Sydney's winter-long festival of virus swappage and resistance breeding, the ones that come with two weeks of feeling like blancmange, a cough that sounds like an ancient sailor's and allows only short snatches of sleep between explosive fits, and a truly unconscionable amount of snot, which no one has as yet found a practical use for.
It's my own fault. My friend had it and I hugged her. I KNOW not to be nice to sick people in August! But every year … every year the bastards get me. Still, at least it was not flu and I am on the mend. Would be much faster if I had more sleep, but between work and coughing, alas …
HOWEVER, I am going to be on time with at least ONE birthday wish this month! HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
ravurian! You are a bastion of cool classiness and elegant brilliance and I hope that the Duchess and all your nearest and dearest have pulled out all the stops and that there has been dancing and thoughtful gifts and at least one heartbreakingly gorgeous young man.
And now to fall into bed and dream of sheds (am writing 6000 words on them between yesterday and Thursday), iPad editions (edit my first tomorrow) and Italy (where I am starting to realise I cannot afford to travel this November, unless I do it in a style I have no wish to become accustomed to). But at least the cats are both awake so they will not disturb me with snoring, unlike last night. I woke them up and told them that if I had wanted snoring pets, I would have purchased pugs.

Date: 2012-08-20 07:00 pm (UTC)I heard you have to push pugs eyes back in and pull their excrement out with your fingers but have no confirmation if that is related.

Date: 2012-08-21 02:39 am (UTC)I myself, am getting over 2 1/2 days of
food poisoning. Never eat at Chili's.
I am sorry you are not feeling well and
hope for a speedy return to health for you.
Your Xmas bookmark still remains in front
of my computer, of the Harry Potter gang.
I enjoy it very much.
