What the hell, Sunday?

About 16 hours ago, I had SO MUCH SUNDAY ahead of me. I was going to fix a frock, go to a do with my mum's family, have a friend and her children stop by to visit their cat before they leave it here for a year while they are in the UK, finish a hat for another friend who is off to the UK next week, finish a story for someone fab, and write recs.

I did the family thing, which was less dreadful than expected, finished the hat, had the cat visit, then joined that lot and many more for dinner, which we missed the train home from, so walked to the highway for the bus, whereupon we found a very skinny lonely cat who may or may not be abandoned and had to pat it a lot and will be riding back over there tomorrow night to feed it and see if there are humans actually living in its house, then did a spot of Doom Editing and tried to make the visiting cat feel a bit better about life -- at least she has come out of the corner and is currently sitting on the sofa -- and now I am late to bed again.

Proper recs will follow tomorrow (I hope) but if you still have a Sunday ahead of you, I think that Fearless is a very good use of your time: 35,000 words of a Harry who only feels alive when he is skirting danger close to death, and a Draco who is determined to face all his fears. Lovely mix of drama and lightness in this one! Also, Coffee, Cakes and Doorknob Snakes, about 40,000 words of Harry's house trying to kill him and cursebreaker Draco trying to stop it. Old school romance and delight, with some utterly breathtaking moments, and the women are BRILLIANT. And if you read it, come back and tell me if you think I am losing my mind or quite reasonable when I suggest that the end had something in common with Peter Jackson's Return of the King.

And finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY snottygrrl! We will one day be in the same country at the same time! I hope you have a magnificent day with the present fairies losing their minds and the universe gifting you wildly! May it be even better than Richard Armitage and Viggo Mortensen on a chocolate fish-bearing unicorn!!

Yay, recs! and I still have a partial Sunday ahead of me, although it's going on 2 PM and we just finished breakfast. Oops. Well, since the day is almost over now, I'd better just relax, read some H/D, and polish my nails:)

It doesn't go on far too long, but it does have denouement after denouement, wrapping up each plot line in a lovely little scene before moving onto the next in what could be described as a series of fake outs.

It also does not include the Scouring of the Shire, but it's less of a loss here.

I had the last of my "Christmas-ing" with Mom's side of the family, which was nice, but now it's 5:30, and I'm doing laundry and still looking down the barrell of a sink full of dirty dishes.

Worst of all? I have to go back to work tomorrow! Where did my weekend go?!

I don't understand how it is possible! I have to get a frock to NZ by the 26th and I think I will just have to pay Fed Ex a fortune because I have left it too late for all sane postage.

BTW, you are VERY CLEVER. I'm not sure if you've read much of my stuff but I can give you a quick rundown if you would like to see other things to request an extra ficlet from. Sorry about that sentence, bed time!

I paid an inordinate amount of money to send Christmas presents to Melbourne after the days in December vanished mysteriously (I'm sure someone was absconding with some of my hours while I wasn't looking). I feel your pain!

I have read all of them! That's what prompted me to come looking for your LJ account - the possibility that there might be MORE! It's a pretty close run race but I think Little Red Courgette might be my favourite. As a public servant, the descriptions of policy making were not wholly unfamiliar :-)

re cat: you're such a good person! I'd do the same, I cannot stand watching a cat suffer.

Just last summer my father yelled at me in the street because I was petting a homeless cat - but it really wanted to be petted! It loved it so much. I couldn't stop. My father stopped grumbling two hours later. Was worth it ;-)

and i had a lovely quiet weekend, but it involved some time with fandom friends and some good food and dinner with family, so while not quite as magnificent as thorin & aragorn on a chocolate fish-bearing unicorn, it was probably equivalent to martin short on a bernie botts-bearing hamster.
