Guess Who's Coming to dinner is on TV, and I am listening to it while I sew frantically. Spencer Tracy's character has just asked Sidney Poitier's how he thinks the mixed race children he will have with his (Tracy's) daughter will fare in the future.

'She thinks they'll all be President of the United States,' says Poitier.

'And you?'

'I'd be happy with them just being Secretary of State.'

I just realised that film was made the year I was born. Reality was better!
