Rowling be trolling.

But goodness gracious, what a way to prove that fandom isn't dead!

In other news, life eaten by writing, sewing, reading The Luminaries (halfway through and loving it) and kitten. Do you have any idea how much slower everything is with a kitten in the house? Not to mention the compensatory pats and brushings for the other cats!

"But goodness gracious, what a way to prove that fandom isn't dead."

Perhaps she did it just to make us wake up a bit?
I'm mostly just annoyed. I like Harry and Hermione as friends, and I think it takes away from Hermione as a character to try and fit her into the standard geeky-girl-turns-romantic-interest mold.
But this does explain why JKR wasn't able to write Harry/Ginny in a half way believable manner. She didn't even believe it herself!

Hope you don't mind me replying, but I agree with you!

I love that HP's Main Girl(TM) didn't end up with The Hero, and that they have a lovely, platonic relationship (that I find sibling-like in nature at times, even). It's very rare that we get to have a subversion of that trope.

But then, this I'm an HD shipper, what do I know? :P

Exactly! And I really like(d) that about Harry Potter.
