Rowling be trolling.

But goodness gracious, what a way to prove that fandom isn't dead!

In other news, life eaten by writing, sewing, reading The Luminaries (halfway through and loving it) and kitten. Do you have any idea how much slower everything is with a kitten in the house? Not to mention the compensatory pats and brushings for the other cats!

I don't know … Harry and Hermione are one of my favourite sets of platonic friends in contemporary literature. They're just genuine, proper, 'I get you' types who are there for each other and also who push each other to be better, without romantic interest. I hope she's misquoted as suggesting they should have ended up together. Or that my goddaughters never read this interview!

Oh well clearly not Harry and Hermione. Just about the ROn.

I a amused at all the kerfuffle. I've been shipping non canon for so long, if JKR turned round and said HGLMSS was now canon, I'd giggle and still not care.

On the topic of which, it's a school night!

And I KNOW. I have not been putting half the effort into rehoming him that I should …

Yeah, small wonder, look at that face.

*has no clue what you're otherwise talking about* the level of my out-of-it-ness seems to increase :/

School night? Pardon? I suspect we are making different references here perhaps...

Also! I was literally just thinking before you posted this entry that you'd been strangely AWOL, and was considering sending you an email along the lines of, 'Brammers! Where have you been all my life?' but here we are! Glad you are alive and kicking!

I sent a text to [livejournal.com profile] shocolate last night that was basically just "noooooooooooooooooooooo" and "whhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy".

But wow, fandom has exploded out of hibernation!

"But goodness gracious, what a way to prove that fandom isn't dead."

Perhaps she did it just to make us wake up a bit?
I'm mostly just annoyed. I like Harry and Hermione as friends, and I think it takes away from Hermione as a character to try and fit her into the standard geeky-girl-turns-romantic-interest mold.
But this does explain why JKR wasn't able to write Harry/Ginny in a half way believable manner. She didn't even believe it herself!

Hope you don't mind me replying, but I agree with you!

I love that HP's Main Girl(TM) didn't end up with The Hero, and that they have a lovely, platonic relationship (that I find sibling-like in nature at times, even). It's very rare that we get to have a subversion of that trope.

But then, this I'm an HD shipper, what do I know? :P

Exactly! And I really like(d) that about Harry Potter.

I am most amused by [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge's reaction where, over on Tumblr, he has removed his ban on the "Harry Potter" tag because he finds the reaction hilarious.

I read this last night and I was like,"woah fandom must be like a nest of hornets right now!" I am glad she realized that Hermione and Ron as a long term couple are a no-go.... But Harry and Hermione? As much as I like to fantasize about a little camping hanky panky, that kink is all about the wrongness of it.

That baby cat looks as if he's been garrotted by the string in the background. It's a HORROR, Brammers.

(And I, too, wondered what long-term prospects Ron and Hermione might've had, but I don't suppose it really matters since somewhere between the war's end and the epilogue they clearly found enough in each other as adults to make it work).

The string is the innocent victim in this photo!

(And yeah, I just always assumed he grew up, she learned patience and they both worked at it.)

Umm, that really, REALLY cute kitten looks like he's been strangled to death. Which I assume is not the case, because you don't seem the sort who would post pictures of strangled kittens, but . . .

Jones the kitten is perfectly fine. My craft bag closing cord, not so much. Fiendishly savaged as a prenap exercise.

Ooh sweetie. You're really not trying too hard to re-home him, are you?

The beastie boys have discovered Cat TV: they're now glued to my bedroom windows every night watching the bats flitter past.

I do not care about this announcement since canon pairing in my fic don't really appeal to me anyway. The Chauffeur, on the other hand, is delighted.

I am just very happy and relieved to learn that you were not the woman on the news the other night that was hit by the bus in Sydney.

Your kitty has the same look on his face as my parents new master. It says "Why are you doing something other than rubbing my tummy?"

He is so cute…even though he does appear to be semi-lynched (the white hair under his chin helps create the impression).

I was wondering if she was trying to stimulate sales:)

I may be completely alone in this, judging from your other commenters, but I've had such a yearning to read just what JK said. Specifically Hermione/Ron with a marriage that doesn't work and eventually breaks down and then she ends up with Harry...

So this news is driving me crazy! Because I'd resigned myself to never getting to read it (well done, like I want it) and now I wonder if someone might write it...

I like all the stuff you said about Harry and Hermione having a platonic bff thing happening and that she's so smart and capable and isn't the love interest. I just want them to be ten years later and suddenly look at each other and think 'where have you been all my life?' in a totally new way.

I love H/D. I really, really do. But my yearning for this variant flavour is really strong. :-(
