Look, he's called Rusketus, because I let Mr Brammers get involved and he decided that the Finnish word for tan was where he felt his creative juices going and he wanted to celebrate that little amber tummy, and all I can say is, this is a SUPER SWEET kitten! With a name that we keep saying in outrageous Finnish accents. Sorry, Finland. Though I know for a fact that at least 18 of you get drunk and speak in outrageous British or Australian accents at the drop of a hat. Anyway, pix!

'So, Ive been here for two hours, is it OK if I savage this finger now?'

We have him in the study, screened off with wire mesh. Cookie has already tried to climb the mesh. Monster took a look through, shrugged, and ambled off, unimpressed. He thought about mewling plaintively, but decided to savage one of his new toy mice instead.

ETA: Guess what this kitten calls 6 feet of thick wire fencing mesh? A climbing wall. Up and over in two seconds once he worked it out. We've had to stuff the gap with pillows and put more pillows on the floor on his side so that his freeclimbing attempts can have a nice soft landing. Plan B tomorrow!

I am being unfair to him, the actual methodology is: grab digit and immobilise it. Apply gentle pressure to test the fact of having teeth and claws. Lick, lick and lick some more!

Btw, I read about the Anzac biscuits, googled them and thought they look great. I'd love to make some of my own, but it's hard to get golden syrup over here and treacle is not to my taste. Can it be substituted with honey?

I STILL have not made the Anzac biscuits! Tomorrow night, or Sunday at this rate. At least there are 6 weeks till Anzac Day! You could use honey, which would give a different taste as the honey comes through, but it is a nice taste. If you have access to glucose syrup, use it instead and then use a rich demerara or brown sugar for the sugar in the dry mix, which will give pretty much the same taste overall.

And he is very soft! Though not quite as silky as Jones, but Jones was ridiculously slinky.

From the moment I saw him I wondered if he has Siamese or Oriental in him. The ear-set and eye-set say no, but the size and shape of the ears, the length and shape of the body, and the whip tail do rather suggest it.

A lovely name for a lovely cat. Cat2 looks rather like that, except more grey than brown, but a similar apricot-coloured tummy and mixture of spots and stripes. They're so amazingly aerodynamic at that age.
