Reading the Harry Potter books will help to make you a more tolerant human being, according to this story.

In other news, moving is awful, but better than so many other things happening in the world that comparatively it is fine. Let us not talk about the landlord, who may yet end up being taken to the tribunal. And my plague has come over all mediaeval, but after a third day in bed, I think I have turned the corner. Which is a relief, because the alternative was tremendously 14th century.

One day some brilliant person will come up with an important engineering application for snot, and my unwanted superpower of mucous will earn me a FORTUNE. Until then, I am going to have to plant three trees in a bid to balance out all these tissues …

Hmmm.......

I re-read them for the first time earlier this year and reached the conclusion that wizards really aren't nice people to minorities or even fellow humans at all!

Hope you get over the dreaded lurgi soonest!

Some are, but many are dreadful because they put no thought into their social beliefs. I think that Harry's frequent 'But that is clearly bananas' when he comes up against some of the mores of the wizarding world is a good way to encourage young people in particular to question prejudices around them.

Thank you. I am breathing more like a human and less like a walrus today ;-)

Okay, now all I hear is Venkman saying, "Egon, your mucus." lol
See? Snot has scientific value!

I hope you feel better fast. And I hope the moving issues work out quickly. There's no coincidence that one of the most stressful events in life, moving, was accompanied by such illness. Blerg.

Reading the Harry Potter books led me to fandom, which definitely made me a more tolerant human being. Also more fun, more gay, and more outspoken. So who knows. :p

Moving is so stressful! I wish you luck with the rest of it, and I'm glad you're feeling better.

I read something just last week that snot has been found to have anti nano properties... So you might be onto something:-) myeloperoxidase is the stuff that turns snot green, and it's the only human enzyme that breaks down carbon nanotubes

yeah i love how that came out - that it was about recognising the error and prejudice in the entrenched systems around us.

hope you feel better. moving is the worst. but moving while sick is the absolute worst. xo
