Though it has been through a firm exercise of will, not innate goodness. Certainly not because they all deserve to live.

Sorry for the utter absence: there has been minimal recreation between being insanely overworked and coming down with actual flu (that the girl on the mag NOT on deadline brought in while I was still on a hideous deadline, boo!) that saw me manage only 650 steps one day (blessed sofa, much-loved pile of cushions on deck in soft winter sun, dearest steamy shower …) And then it was back to the overwork after five days in bed. I miss the Jane Austen month at the seaside recuperation plan! If you are behind Sydney in the disease cycle of the year, I recommend a flu shot, that bugger was nasty and is virulent. Alas, I was too busy to get mine on time, oh the irony!

Anyway, risen from the land of restrained homicidal maniacs to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY nenne! I've missed far too many flist birthdays, but you are always so lovely and kind, filled with interesting stories about your world – when I saw the notification, I decided to put other things down and pick LJ up! I hope the day is utterly splendid for you.

And now for ten or so minutes of Le Tour (mostly upright tonight, thank goodness!) before staggering off to bed in a bid to get enough sleep to be able to control my natural instinct to lunge for the throat … I had a fit of 'Ooh, I could do Erised!' the other day, but then remembered I could also finish one of half a dozen unfinished fics or read one of the 60 or so I have queued. Life. I've heard it's lovely …

Well done America on the gay marriage decision, BTW! Your Supreme Court's majority decision was a thing of joy and beauty. Scalia's dissent was the sort of thing I expect to hear from one of your country's brilliant if spittier character actors in a period piece, but it did provide an eye-opening glimpse into the Scalia household. I hope Mrs Scalia thwapped him over the head with a rolled-up copy of it once he got home.

Let us not speak of Australian politics.

PS, bonus Rusketus and his hot water bottle for karinmolberg. He's been sleeping on my seed trays during the day: I don't know if the warmth will help the germination more than the squashiness will hinder it. And if you can see claw marks in the chair, claw marks are now the main fabric of that chair. We have surrendered it to the felines.

I can't have the jab as I have an egg allergy and it uses an egg based carrier! :o(

It was revolting! But much better now. Happily, deadline was on the Wednesday, when I was crashing but still upright, then I took Thursday and Friday off, Monday was a bank holiday, and by Tuesday I could stand without my legs shaking.

I normally do get the jab because I work in an open plan office and catch a lot of public transport. Since I have no allergies, if I can take myself out as a transmission vector, it's a win for public health! Alas, had to go back while still sick due to hell months, but I took disinfectant spray and masks and coughed into single-use tissues, so it could have been worse!

Seriously, I hope people are keeping Scalia from sharp objects because, well ... It's the responsible thing to do. I'd include pens ...

The flying kitten is filled with EVIL, but also with snuggliness, because it has been cold here, for Sydney (people scoff, because 6-15C isn't actually cold, except that all our houses are designed to have draughts and none have central heating, so it's the same temperature or less inside as out. I made him a hot water bottle, he was pleased.

And I can't work out the coding for pictured in comments, so I will edit the entry to slap him in if I can remember how to do that.

He looks extremely cattent on his (his) hot water bottle as well he should. In fact, he holds the exact facial expression of a politician just re-elected; hence not from Hellas but who'd want to be elected in Eurovisionland? For his almost as catty as a Cheshire smile, sure he didn't become a shecat overnight, now into a singing or model career? Aquired furniture as well as humans must be marked by clawing. It's the Rule!
Now I want a cat, again. I'm tiring of humans, personally. Though I must say, your healthy altruism stays unparallelled but I also never sat on your hair on public transpirit (typoism) wherefore I feel entitled to say so. Here, I've been known to take it (P.T.) because of AC. Look, I can do abbreviatorness stuff, now I'm proud.

Ugh. The draughts. We've been getting down to -5 at night and because there is no insulation in the kitchen and bathroom and windows that don't close it's been that temperature inside as well. The lounge room is okay as we have the fire on and the walls are rather thick but everywhere else it is cold. All our oils are solid and so is the dishwashing liquid. It's warmer in the fridge than the kitchen.
We are certainly not built for this sort of weather. On the plus side we may get some snow this weekend. Maybe. it's just pissing down rain right now but they've predicted snow down to 600m and we're at about 800m.

I look just like that when I'm snuggling up to a hot water bottle, too :) It's been freezing here, too! Yesterday it was 14C outside. 16C inside... despite lighting a fire AND baking. Later it got to a toasty 17.5 in the kitchen for an hour or so. We need to move to a warmer house :/

I'm in the middle of a six weeks long vacation on the US east coast and have spent the day in Charleston, SC. It is a beautiful town with lots to see and even though it is very warm and humid for a northerner like me we have been everywhere, having a great time! :-) There has been cake and Champagne, I have nothing to complain about.

Is it bitter and jaded of me to have been surprised that gay marriage withstood the supreme court? I really only expected 3 votes MAYBE 4 in favor of it. I'm glad of the decision, but didn't think it was going to happen. Maybe just overly influenced by the strange direction my country's taking lately.

We got the flu shot late this year because they were late bringing out the free one.
We ended up with colds (I think there were two close together) but not flu so hopefully we'll stay okay for the rest of the winter.
Mine turned in to a chest infection but it went away on it's own eventually.

Better post this while everything still works. We got thunder and hail right now.
