blamebrampton: (here to have fun)

And one that may be more suitable for those who fear or dislike cats, is the work of Tim Minchin. Minchin is an Australian comedian/musician, and I find him hilarious. Those of you living in London are lucky, as he lives there these days, but he is often to be found at comedy festivals around the world. He is interesting, smart, sort of oddly hot (and there's a great story behind that), and a genuinely nice guy.

This is his website, where you can check out upcoming gigs and download some of his routines.

This is one of my fave routines of his, alas, sound only this time. A word of warning: if you are a trippy hippie who believes that facts are just opinions, you will be offended by this. However, if you are a trippy hippie who believes such things, since you clearly enjoy being offended after hanging around my lj all the time, go for it (and also, you kinky little masochist, you! Nicely snuck past the keeper, there! (oh god, football metaphors, kill me now ...))

You are very welcome. I love him with a pure and spiritual love that would not be frowned upon by his lovely wife.

Haha! That was hilarious! Poor little Sagittarius...

I totally loved his Satchmo, the mention of Scooby Doo and the janitor and I was actually waiting for the aspirin part. :)

Me and my aura are happy. *beams*

*grins* I love cats, they just make me stop breathing.

Yes, that's the one downside of the fluffballs. One of my dearest friends has the same problem, while her young son ADORES them. Still, that's the beauty of the internet, all that feline comedy, no allergens!

And that quote is magnificent.

Lol, I knew without even scrolling down that you were going to post Storm. Saw Mr Minchin do this at the Atheists Christmas show last year and just about had a heart attack of love for him. :D

One of my Kiwi friends rang me the day it went up on YouTube and shouted that I had to find a computer, now! I told her that I was out and that unless I mugged a nearby student, it would have to wait. She asked me if any of them looked small and feeble.

While I managed to wait until I got home, I immediately understood her enthusiasm ;-) And I should find it scary that you knew that, but I don't.

Yay, Tim Minchin! Did you see him when he was touring the other week?

I'm glad he's making a name for himself in London, but also sad that it means we get less of him over here.

"...a pigeonhole starts to form, and is immediately filled with pigeon when she says her name is Storm." That will never not make me laugh.

My favourite ever thing by him is Rock'n'roll Nerd, although I also have a special fondness for Angry. And this clip of him singing Hallelujah and getting all shy about singing it straight makes me all kinds of happy.

Alas, I have been working like a maniac since Easter, so no. But next time, or if I manage to get to Europe this summer. And that is one of the finer lines in the English language! OOH, not seen the Hallelujah one, thanks!

Loved it - and I loved the engineers and their cats immoderately as well.
But come on, don't be a tease - what's the great story behind him being oddly hot??

There's a documentary made about him, Rock and Roll Nerd, in which you see him before: short curly hair, heftier frame, normal clothes, no make-up. He is advised that, since he clearly has talent, if he has a hotter look, success will come. So he diets and hits the gym, grows and straightens his hair, and adopts a streetwise style. The rest you can see for yourself!

Mmm. I'd have to say he's "interesting" rather than clearly hot. Love his mind though. As opposed to "Jim Kirk" in the latest Star Trek movie which I just caught, who was impossibly hot. And a complete Gryffindor...

Yes, I'd not go him, but hot is clearly the goal of his makeover.

I'd not shag Kirk, either, but I would watch him throwing himself at all my young friends with amusement. And you are quite right: ABSOLUTELY a Gryffindor!

Sorry dear! Good, isn't he? I particularly love the bit where he's all 'No, if they ever PROVE homeopathy works, I WILL change my mind, because that's how science works. I'll hate every second of it, but I'll do it!'

Tim Minchin is my new hero! And you, for linking this. I now have half the office parroting "You can't know anything, knowledge is merely opinion" with that raised inflection at the end every time there's a hint of disagreement. :D
