And I cannot go to bed as the last wicket is still to fall.

I know that Americans, Canadians and many Europeans are unable to fathom why we care so much about the Ashes. It's akin to a war, mixed with the Olympics, mixed with the bedrock or national pride.

I will say that the Australian team can hold their heads high at the way they have doggedly fought through this innings. Now if they could just lose so I can go to sleep!

ETA: THEY DID IT! THEY DID IT! WHO NEEDS SLEEP? Bless you Flintoff, you are a gem.

Hurrah! *Runs off to shower and hopes to dream of Stuart Broad (who even my straight Aussie male friend described as 'immensely fanciable' last night)

Can't believe they won. I too plan to dream of Stuart Broad - and maybe Freddie Flintoff, too.

I plan to be dignified and gracious. Though I have sadly realised that I really am too short for Stuart Broad. And old enough to be his mother. Ooh, Ricky Ponting ... living on the edge with that speech ...

being dignified and gracious will certainly annoy them!

I am so out of touch with Aussie cricketers, but Ricky Ponting, really? He has an elfin touch to his face, and those cricket-shaped bodies are way so much better than those ugly baseball bods they have over here... yuk! All steroids and plain ugly fat gross uglies, and they also have their bald spots (hahaha)

It was his speech that was dangerously close to inciting the crowd, but he managed to pull up before impact with the Oval.

But yes, cricketers since Shane Warne's retirement are generally slimmer and more haired ;-)

I was convinced you were Australian, but no real Australian would jump from joy when their beloved country lost the Ashes, so now I'm confused.

(and your fantasy Estonian citizenship does not help :)

English lass with Australian mother who popped over for a visit to mater and to check out the marsupials, met a strapping Aussie lad and found herself coping with 40-degree summers ;-)

I confess that cricket remains shrouded in mystery to me, but had I known that they let pretty boys like Mr Broad play I would have been more attentive.
*cheers for England*

I would have, but then they would have collapsed in a screaming heap.

Philip Tufnell apparently predicted the results with scary accuracy, I'd use him as a betting guide in future ...

Well. Can't say i join you in the celebrations. I'm FURIOUS with Ricky Ponting for being run out. I'm FURIOUS with Freddie Flintoff for recreating the crucifiction every time he did what he was there to do, and I'm FURIOUS with the wicket for being drier than the Simpson Desert. Now, if you'll excuse me, I too have some daydreams to create concerning Stuart not-so Broad but ever-so -tall.

Oh, if only I had thought at 10 pm last night that we might get eight wickets in the afternoon! I was completely expecting to get up this morning and find we had the last couple of wickets to get, and then I could watch us win.

Ah, well. Hope you had a good day's celebrating. :D

Stuart Broad

For the last coupld of years I haven't really paid that much attention to the cricket (a game which I understand really well). Anwyway so after reading throught your comments I decided to google this Stuart Broad, and this is what I found.
