Police, sirens, big crash!

After an exciting morning spent sorting out all of our e-waste for recycling* and delivering it to the depot, I decided to have a quick nap. Which was interrupted by a siren. Not unusual, this is the inner city, after all. Then another siren. Then quite a few. Then an almighty crash.[Poll #1453860][Poll #1453860]

Europe in Winter? Are you nuts?

I would recommend Provence, having just been there (what do you mean you didn't notice I was gone?) but a local assured me that it's awful in winter. So, actually maybe Paris, because then you could spend lots of time in museums, galleries, etc, and not feel bad about missing everything else.

I am missing winter! Last year was the winteriest I had been in years with a quick freeze in Christchurch (-5) and a coolish autumn in Firenze (10). Sydney's idea of winter has lows of 8, for three days. I want to wear my thick coat!

But yes, Paris and Firenze offer much in the way of shopping and gallery-going, which is really the main exercise. If I can convince Mr Brammers that he likes Europe, we will follow up with a nice long spring trip in the next year or two.

"Sydney's idea of winter has lows of 8, for three days."

I like Sydney's idea of winter. It sounds a lot like England's idea of summer, but with a promise of better, rather than a threat of worse. :oP

Heh. When I first came out here it was spring and I thought it was the most delightful weather ever (17-23 every day, sun, a light shower, then more sun). Then summer hit, and I thought that I might die. The winters are generally quite nice, but January and February are to be avoided where possible, nobody needs 40-45 degrees!

45 degrees is Not Okay.

But actual sunshine is good. I had almost forgotten how much I liked it. *is a drama queen*
