It is 41.5 degrees C, which is over 100 in the old money. If you hear nothing further from me, it is because I have melted. I make note that it is not yet summer.

I water skied in Lake Havesu (sp) Arizona.
It was over 100 degrees, but the heat was
so dry, it did not bother me.
I can't imagine what you must be going
through with the temperature so high.
Do you pace yourself and try not to
over exert in the heat?
(I refuse to let you melt)

I am sitting inside with the blinds drawn watching a Jane Austen biography. Mr Brammers bought me two bags of ice yesterday, for he truly loves me. I believe they may be crunched through merrily before the day is out!

We're used to ghastly weather in these parts, and have the house locked up against the worst of it (we will open it up at night to take advantage of the cool change). But it does usually have the decency to wait til actual summer!

I have ice, and a bath, which can be filled with ice should worst come to the worst ...

It's about 30 degrees here, which isn't so bad given that it was about 38 degrees on Friday. I'm envious of Melbourne's 18 degrees though. Although not to envious of their possible flash flooding.

WHAT IS IT WITH THE FLOODING? Between the several floodwarnings in Oz and the deluge in the UK, it's simply mad!

Glad your temps have come down a little, they promise me a cool change tonight, which I look forward to eagerly.

The problem comes about when one has to leave it ... it is not actually so bad inside, probably about 33, and I have shows on my hard drive to catch up with. Just finished Jane Austen, now onto Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall ;-)

It's absolutely insane.

People think I am rabid about climate change because I am a lefty ratbag. Au contraire, I am a moderate who is presented with overwhelming evidence of climate change on a daily basis. And I don't like it!

From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
Yes please! And I would always take your weather over mine, cold is so much easier to escape from if you have a modicum of shelter and clothing.

I think I might put down the laptop and change the buttons on one of my shirts until the cold front arrives. Handsewing is cooler, and the shirt is linen, which I may need tomorrow if the weather does not change.

I'm not sure if it's dry or humid there, but in Florida when I lived there it would not only be hot but wet and muggy too. Right now it is 50 (old money) here in Virginia. I'm enjoying the coolish air and feel for anyone who has to go through any type of heat higher than room temperature. *hugs* Hope it gets cooler for you soon.

Very humid inside, slightly less so outside as a hot wind has just blown in, however, it's eight degrees hotter than inside and gritty, so I am staying in!

I have some notes for your paper, but am too knackered to make sense at the moment, so I will deal with them later tonight!

Hey darling! Sydney at that temp is not a liveable city. Bah! For once I am not going to one-up your hot - we finally got a cold change and a wonderfully stalled weather front, and a missing month's worth of rain in around 16 hours (along with floods etc). It's been lovely. I actually went and walked in it at around 8pm last night with C and C - rumours that I was seen dancing in puddles and singing 'Singing in the Rain' are not greatly exaggerated.

Wish I could send it your way, but it appears to be heading for NZ instead. I will endeavour to will it northwards.

I think the quickest source of relief close to you would be to sneak down to the fishmarkets and crawl into their cold rooms (don't mind the smell).

How are the fires going? BoM said the amount of energy involved in our weather this last month (from ridic hot to ridic wet and cold) is both exceptional and ridiculously high. Also, NOT NORMAL.

*concentrates fiercely on sending weather to you*

Date: 2009-11-22 05:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
According to the SMH they've jumped containment lines and are threatening rural properties. The wind has been heavy, gusting, and multi-directional, which spells horrible for the firefighters. The city is so far unaffected by direct fire, but there is quite a haze developing out there, which probably is also a bit to do with the normal smog not being pushed out of the city's bowl.

The streets are astonishingly empty for this time of a weekend, I think everyone has given up and gone home to sit in a cold bath. The Mon cat is sitting in the washbasin as I type ;-)

The BOM assures me tomorrow will be 22, I am putting my faith in them!

Like Abs said, we have had so much rain here the last 24 hours I can almost forgive the 40+ days. Almost. Hasn't gone over 17 here today. Rain even woke me from a deep sleep last night it was that heavy.

Actually the dust storms ahead of the cool change yesterday were eerily reminiscent of the bushfires. Not in smell of course - but then after a few days of being blanketed in thick smoke no one smelled smoke anyway - but in colour and lack of visibility. Very eerie. Made me want to run and check the CFA websites an make sure there were no fires around us.

Stay cool, hon.

We are having alleged rain this month. 'With late showers' means 12 second of heavy splatter, followed by nothing. I hate the weather!!!

Everything still abysmally soggy down here, but quite warm too (yes, yes, warm for a Tasmanian spring). Fruit flies and mosquitoes breeding in unholy numbers, house rapidly becoming submerged in rampant greenery, that sort of thing.

From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
Tassie warm is horrible: it's your UV that makes you feel every jot of it. I am sure that the verdant theme will be delightful at some point, but filled with mozzies and fruit flies, it sounds like Brisbane ...

I think I should fly north for the summer. It's 9pm and I'm dripping. The study with the 'puter has no aircon, and though I feel a flutter of breeze outside, in here it's still and thick and wet. How's your ice holding up?
Yippee! 21 degrees tomorrow.

Where did my Spring go??? It has hit at least 42 degrees here four days running (48.5 by lunchtime Friday)but my new favourite website Weather.com promises a max of 23 tomorrow. If it knows what is good for it it had better not be lying!!! *gives it the evil eye*

I have been very grateful for my a/c which I am lucky I do not have to leave for any length of time.

*joins group lining up to do that rain and cool change dance*

It's been pretty hot up here the last week or so. When I'm at work, I'm in a tin demountable building with no a/c only a ceiling fan. I need to have the fan on full pelt for it to even make a difference, if I have the windows closed it makes it worse.

Stay cool, maybe find a local indoor swimming pool or something, maybe invest in one of those portable air coolers that you fill with iced water to make cool air.

That's just inhuman.

Mr Brammers has a portable cooler in the study, but I usually work out in the living room where there is more space. I might give up on that plan if this continues ... The BOM promised a cool change I hope you get it, too!
