RIP Miep Gies. You lived a good life and left the world better than you found it. May we have the courage to do likewise, and the fortune to never need it.

So true.

There are good reasons not to forget what she has done and why she had to do it.

Thanks for the link.

I was sorry to hear of her passing, but so glad that once more she could remind people -- especially the young -- that it is always possible to do something good, even in the worst times.

I thought I recognized that name -hadn't realized she was still alive until recently. Few of us are capable of that kind of courage.

And looking at the photo, I was also struck by her beauty in old age.

Nor had I. What a gracious and brave woman!

One of the things that keeps my chin up is the fact that she, and many people like her, have all said that they did not see themselves as brave, only that there was one right way to act, so they did. It gives me hope that if it comes to the crunch, most of us will find similar strength within ourselves. Especially since we have seen the alternatives.

And YES! Virtue really does show ;-)

It is very sad she has passed on. She was a remarkable woman.

Yes indeed. I am glad that she had what is reported as a peaceful end, and amazed to see how much vitality she had in her hundredth year until right near the end.

I can't believe she's died. I mean, I knew she was getting on a bit, but I didn't realise she'd made it to a hundred. She was really kind of something.

Hear!Hear! Well said as always. Thanks for this poignant reminder of the light that still burns bright.

Peace,

I got a little choked up just now. Such a wonderful lady! I hadn't realize she was still alive until recently, either.

Thank you for posting this.
