Hey, fic flist! Remember when we were all having a good time with next-gen characters before going back to our H/D roots? Remember how we met [livejournal.com profile] hollycomb ? Or when Cal convinced us that James/Scorpius could work, or when Sansa-as-was made Albus in a black leather jacket not only plausible but perfect and Bry made everyone cry, but that was OK? And then the way that [livejournal.com profile] draykonis  made us go 'Oh yeah, THAT'S what they'd look like ...'

So do these folks. I'm off to show some love!

Don't forget all the people who write next-gen full time who have never written h/d!!! [livejournal.com profile] faynia has a great list of as/s fics and there many great fics with other pairings out there!! I've already sent in a few nominations and am trolling around to see which ones I forgot! :)

I've been reading through faynia's list this morning, trying to figure out what to nom. So many excellent next gen fics to choose from!

If anyone needs them:
The AS/S Rec List
and the sister list...
The Next Gen (but not as/s) Rec list

Thank you for the list! I've also been reviewing [livejournal.com profile] hp_rarities, [livejournal.com profile] hp_yule_balls, and [livejournal.com profile] hp_cross_fest for some recent fics. I'm trying to find some that are not as well known so everyone gets a chance to be nominated!

Also, this made me go back and figure out what next gen I wrote. I totally forgot I had written a next gen het fic. How strange....

They are out there! Though my flist is full of dabblers, we were scared off! (I'll be back, AS/S, one day!)

I've been going through my bookmarks to find the stories and images that really amazed me, glad the lists are so long so that I can get a few more unusual ones in!

Hehe :) Because the way this award site works only those nominated the most will ultimately be added to the list. I'm trying to give a voice to those great stories that may not have been written by well known authors just to give them a fighting chance.

Add me to the list of dabblers. I tried AS/S for a good few months there and then sort of wore myself out! Its fun to play with other pairings ;)

I think it will be fascinating to see what people remember, and read up on the ones I missed! Apparently there is some thought to having a more quality rather than popularity based Next Gen awards at some point, too.

As for me I'm nominating and then ignoring the award completely, mostly because awards tend to make me break out into virtual hives *bites nails*. I'm all up for giving others props, but when it comes to feeling left out I know I have thin skin sometimes. Better to just enjoy the joy of making others happy and then getting the hell out of dodge!

Oh honey, awards are the WORST way of judging your impact, success or skill. There are so many idiot factors in any awards system that the winners are almost always compromises at best. Need I say Gwyneth Paltrow over Cate Blanchett? I think not ;-) So yes, we do what we can to bring the things that we think are worthy to the fore, cheer if our nominations are recognised, and laugh if somethings Paltrow-like is up there instead ;-)

Hehe :) That is why I love the internet because there is a little button to remove something from your watch list and its like it never existed!!! :) Oh I know my worth, my head's as big as a melon!

But yes, the fun part is celebrating the awesomeness of the people around you, and then with the magical cursor, pretend they are all winners. :)

5. Only stories which were published between the publication of Deathly Hallows and Dec. 31, 2009 are eligible for nomination.

which is a hellava lotta fics. :D

It's new. I don't think there's ever been a NG award before. It might turn yearly. I don't know if they've decided that yet.
