Mr B has been in mild disgrace for spending far too much time on internet spaceships and far too little on everything else.

A short while ago, he appeared in the living room with a smile. 'I am being thoughtful and loving,' he declared.

He pulled his hands out from behind his back. In one, a giant chocolate frog. In the other, Kevin McCloud DVDs. He really does love me!

I wish you the most pleasant things possible on this, the anniversary of your birth, including but not limited to a temperature below 30 degrees.

Okay I admit it. I am wishing for the temperature part as my own very un-birthday gift that I can share with everyone. It is the thoughts that counts though.

Thank you, dear! And I would be delighted to share my clement weather with you! (So far, so good, it seems to be cooling down enough to allow sleep later.)

Yes! He announces these things to make sure I don't miss them. I assure him that any instance of him not playing computer spaceships at the moment is so notable that it would not escape my attention (this would be mean, but it has been out of control this summer!)

*giggles more* That is actually kind of cute.

He is a dear. And we have had a habit of announcement since the early days -- I told him that he was sleeping with me the first time, and he later informed me that he was planning to stay around for decades ;-)

LOL That at least leaves no room for misunderstandings. Not a bad idea at all.

Thank you, Huey, darling! It's only just begin, but chocolate and Grand Designs is a good start! And he gave me one of the cats, but since I remember paying for that one the first time, it didn't count (and she scratched me. Damn it, Monster, you do not need your claws when a human is holding you!)

Monster apologises and asked me to send you a cake. xD

She hopes that it is made of chicken and I will accidentally leave it out of the fridge and unattended ;-)

We did already own the DVDs, but having him sit down and watch something with me is a delight! And thank you, it is starting well :-)

It's tomorrow/today, the 29th -- which has started here. We start celebrating at midnight in this house, and birthdays are official for as long as it is that day somewhere in the world. The Festival of Birthday may be strung out for a week, a month for big ones ;-)

What an excellent idea. I think I may have to implement that in our household, effective immediately. Of course, it's complete coincidence that mine is the next birthday... and at '35', I think that definitely deserves a week's worth of celebrating!

I just melted! SO SWEET. I love especially when men have to announce that they've been thoughtful. Every now and then, my husband can be heard muttering "I am a good man, you know" if I haven't been sufficiently gushy about how amazing he is. Silly men and their tiny egos. :)

HEE! Your husband is EXCELLENT! And Mr B is also very worth keeping, even if he does have attacks of OCD about taking over the galaxy. I think that their announcements are because they are harking back to the days of knightly chivalry when they would have had a herald to precede them -- 'My Lords and Ladies, I give you Sir Purl and his Tale of Great Deeds for His Lady!'

PS/ a couple of nights ago my husband hide a big bag of peanut M&M under my pillow as a gift. After I found them he said that it had been very nice of him to do so because he was a nice husband :)

You would enjoy Kevin! He is clever, kind and funny, and makes terrible faces at bad architecture. And he is having an affair with Eve Online, to the point that he told me to find out what coprs you belong to in case I need to spy on your activities in future. I thumped him on your behalf.
