I had thought I was doing reasonably well with birthdays this month. HA! Right, since my last salutations to the birthdaying flist, the following people have managed to celebrate another year of ageing beautifully.

HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY
to [livejournal.com profile] knackard and [livejournal.com profile] hpdm4ever for the 17th. [livejournal.com profile] knackard , your art is so lovely, I wish you were around more! I want to ditch everything else to go back to writing Remusfic in hopes of hearing from you, and I will as soon as I can. And [livejournal.com profile] hpdm4ever , I know that you are having a busy year, but hope that it is all going well for you, as you are such a cheering voice.

An EXCEPTIONALLY HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK (since I missed the actual day) to [livejournal.com profile] blythely for yesterday. One of the things that makes me happy about fandom is that I have not read all your stories yet. I used to have the same feeling before I had read everything Jane Austen wrote. That and you're ever so sane. It's good to know you. I hope the present fairies were generous to you!

Last but certainly not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [Bad username or unknown identity: samena   ! You're such a lovely human, I hope you have a terrific day and that the present fairies are currently unloading a truck at your place, even if it consisists mostly of phone calls and photos of pretty young things. ]

Mr Brammers and I wandered up to Newtown for dinner. On our way back down the hill, we saw a notice on the shop that used to sell beaded animals from South Africa. Espresso Bar Opening Soon! it said.

Mr Brammers looked at me. 'Hmmmm ...' he said. 'I'm not sure how they expect to compete here. There are three other cafes in 100m and two bars.'

I looked at him for a long moment before laughing. 'Don't be ridiculous. All they need to do is offer three or four different coffee beans and made to your liking with a comfy chair or two and you will be living there. I'll be up in town and walking home and the phone will ring and it will be you saying "Baaaaabe, can you grab me a coffee as you come home?" It will be chock-full of local posers and caffeinistas and you will all be happy to pay $3.75 for a small cup as long as the beans are fair trade.'

His jaw set as he prepared to argue, then he cracked and smiled and said, 'The sad thing is, that's entirely true.'

'It's so unfair, they are always opening shops that are perfect for you,' I groused.

'Silly spot for it, though. They should have used the old bread shop,' he said as we continued to walk.

Thirty seconds later we were passing the old bread shop. There was a development notice on it. Mr Brammers whooped and jogged over to read it. He turned back to me, with a grin plastered all over his face. 'This one is for you!' he declared.

I stepped up to read it.

Proposed: Chocolate and Dessert Bar
Opening hours 8am-12 midnight

We can never move.
