As most people who have met me in RL know, I am erratic at the social niceties. Hence ...

HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] knackard, [livejournal.com profile] hpdm4ever and [livejournal.com profile] rdmasters! Knack and HP, I hope that you had a great day of it whatever you are up to, RD, I apologise for the fact that we still have ridiculous government in this country, but hold out hopes for it as a whole as long as it has citizens like you. I hope the presents and cake were Excellent!

Yes, we do have a ridiculous government - but it is no worse than many other places, and much better than many, so I guess we just keep beavering away at it.

In more important news, cake did not feature in my birthday. Icecream did! I'm still backup on-call, so I'm delaying celebrations until the coming weekend, but work enforces The Cake Act. So. Being a coeliac, cake is something of a pain - and I have a history of doing strange and wonderful things for my contribution to diabetes in our workforce. This year, with the cunning assistance of [livejournal.com profile] leecetheartist, I called in a Mr Whippy van, and shouted everyone soft-serve ice-cream, slushies, and so on. Yes, it cost more than cake, but the looks were worth it!

Why, thank you! Nearly fell out of my bed when I saw your greetings! And yes, I had a lovely (and long) day, full with work and family, and I got a kindle and a saliva-worthy handbag. :)
