Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and especially the lovely and generous [personal profile] raitala! Am feeling considerably better after a mammoth post-class nap this afternoon and some food.

Watching the Olympics since it is pretty much the only non-dodgy cable movie channel in my hotel (where I can now receive my wireless signal with no issues, who can explain it?) and the only out gay man at the Olympics is currently second in his diving event. Fingers crossed!

And an Australian won the pole vault. How? What's happened, Russia? Still, a Norwegian just won the javelin, so [personal profile] pingrid, your nation's cunning defence strategy is still on course.

At least I was able to teach my class today, but I missed the delicious dinner that a friend cooked for me (my other friends have raved about it). It was particularly annoying because this girl and her husband are new friends and I like them a great deal. And they have the World's Greatest Cat Run. Oh well, next time.

I have flown a thousand miles to sit in a hotel room and eat cheeseless pizza while watching the Olympics. Sigh. I might have a bath and make a real night of it!

ETA OMG! Matthew Mitcham, the only out gay man at the Olympics, WON THE GOLD in the men's 10m diving!!

:D You know what? I, TV sports hater and scoffer at the Olympics, actually happened to watch the last ten minutes or so of the 10m diving, and got TOTALLY EXCITED about it! Yay Matthew Mitcham! :D

Glad you're feeling better, darling.

Same here. I had it on for some human noise, then when I heard his name I watched, because I like him and applaud his personal stances, AND THEN HE WON! With that huge and amazing dive! GOSH!

Am feeling quite perky now, at half midnight in the city of churches. Yay ... might try going back to sleep.

He did! :D The commentators had been openly calling one of the Chinese divers the gold medalist before the last dive, but then he botched it, and they were totally surprised and excited at how close it suddenly was, so that got me excited as well, and then MM delivered that spectacular dive and WON! It was fun! :D

Sleep sounds like a good idea. If you listen carefully you should be able to hear the lullaby I'm singing. :)
