It was a mere 30 or so here today, quite thoroughly bearable. In Adelaide, the city of churches and blessed public pools, it was nearly 46 degrees Celcius. That is over 110F.
THAT IS INSANE!!
Melbourne was a balmy 42 by comparison, and neither city is scheduled to drop below 40 during the day for the next several days, nor far below that at night.
Poor old Canberra is nearly as badly off.
Feral, Mere, Jamie, Emerald, and you Adelaideans, HIDE IN THE FREEZER AISLE AT THE SUPERMARKET!!! Stop pretending it's bearable, it's completely not! Hell, come up to Sydney for the week, it's passably reasonable here.
Finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Date: 2009-01-28 08:55 pm (UTC)The house is like a tomb, because the evaporative cooler can only do so much - so it's better to just close it off and close everything up and hide. I'll have to turn my laptop off shortly because it will just make the living room hot.
It's 7.53am and already 33.7. We're expecting at least 43 for the next two days.
I want to emigrate to the UK nao puhleeze?
