The Prime Minister: I have asked the Federal Police to investigate this matter. I would point out that on the occasions I have cocked up in the past I have come straight before the Australian public and the media to say 'Terribly sorry, I seem to have cocked up.' Lying is not really part of my character, have you noticed that I am almost preternaturally earnest and my parents did well to name me Kevin?

The Leader of the Opposition (who has spent all week saying 'You did it!'): Oh, look! Elvis! *runs*

Australian public: Well, that was a storm in a teacup, wasn't it? Is there anything on the telly? Did you hear that Bell Shakespeare is doing Pericles? I'm pretty sure that's not Elvis ...

Ah, now I have had first-hand experience of both, and I have to say that KRudd is even duller than Major. I know, I know, it's hard to believe. But KRudd does not even attempt to convince anyone he is an actual human, while Major did try and present himself as a softer alternative to The Lady.

And thanks for bringing that up. Did you see the last Australian Prime Minister, John Howard? He, too, had an extensive affair. I find it incomprehensible that their spouses desired either of them, let alone anyone else!
