I am reasonably convinced that some of the comments to this Times Online story asking if you would send your children to Hogwarts come from members of my flist.

Also, was I hallucinating that they had Taliban as style several days recently, though they are now back to Taleban? I wonder what is driving the changes?

On an unrelated matter, is anyone a fan of the BBC's Beautiful People? It's only screening here now and I LOVE IT.

I have been desperately trying to finish a story for my second fandom anniversary on Tuesday, but I feel that for the sake of the story, I should give up on that deadline and go for my 750th day instead. Which means I need to come up with something amusing between now and Tuesday to say thanks for all the fish, as it were. Happily, most of you will be too concerned with the film opening or the con to be appalled by the result ;-)

On the chance that I miss it with all that's going on (my sissy gets married this weekend, then con), HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! The fandom is better for having you in it. :)

It's slightly better for pronunciation, but yes, I am afraid that Taliban is the vastly dominant usage around the world and so it does look weird.

I watched a little bit of BP last night, but had to turn it off. I'm not really in a place to find bullying and harassment at school funny. But I can see the show has potential. I might give it another go next week.

The result of that was SPECTACULAR. Simon's dad tried to toughen him up by teaching him football, to which Simon was 'Meh'. Then Kylie told him that Posh loved Becks, and so Simon decided he WOULD be a footballer after all and practiced like a lunatic. To everyone's shock but his, he ended up being spectacularly good at it.

"What they failed to appreciate, was that footwork is just choreography," said Simon.

With his mad skills they won the school championship and the bully bought him a Posh Spice doll with his own pocket money to say thanks. And also punched him, because that's what he does, but Simon was too busy loving Posh to care.

*grins* Just take the Douglas Adams approach.

Happy Anniversary!

Taliban seems to be style for the Sunday Times and Taleban for Times Online.

AH! Of course, I lose track of what day it is sometimes ...

Dear Douglas ... I miss him.

God, loved the Times comments, esp the "elf and safety would never allow it" one!
Don't know which was funnier - the commenters taking the piss, or the ones taking the question seriously! Or the ones who were just cross about everything. Woot.
