I once went home with a busker, which is not really apropos to this entry except to say that the film Once therefore made complete sense to me.

I decided I must own the soundtrack, which led to many hip young people telling me it was sold out, until in the 11th record store (I am fortunate to live in an are that has 11 record stores) they had a copy sitting on the counter, waiting for me.

I mentioned the search to the young thing at the counter, who said "You could have downloaded it faster."

I replied: "Cover art." Then looked down to see it was a photo of Glen Hansard, whose beauty is in his voice. But the principle remains ...

If you have never heard of Once, nor any of the music from its soundtrack, nor, indeed, the excellent Frames, then watch this, and find a whole new thing of beauty:

I really want to see that- missed it when it was in the theatres here.

And going home with a busker reminds me of Joni Mitchell's "Court & Spark"- "He was playing on the sidewalk for passing change/When something strange happened/Glory train passed through him/So he buried the coins he made in People's Park, and went looking for a woman to court and spark."

Ah Joni Mitchell, one of the reasons to love America ...

Do hunt it down on DVD. Most worth the effort. And yes, I am a. a trollop, and b. a complete sucker for any combination of looks and talent.

I heard it on Letterman of all things (it's on before Torchwood here, Dr Who is the only telly I was allowed to watch as a child, so I am a tragic addict) and I was flabbergasted at the combination of novelty and originality, and then I was trying to work out why the guy seemed so familiar, then I noticed the extra hole in his guitar and did the "Ohhh ... that guy ..." eye roll at my own obtuseness.

It can be downloaded ... Glen's a great musician but the cover art can be lived without ...
