Gosh how is I miss cracker night. I know it's not the same in England as it was here but Cracker night was always around my birthday so for the first 8 years of my life before it was banned I always thought it was in celebration of me lol I was not half conceted.
I am actually a bit surprised that I did not come across any Guy Fawkes Night/Weasley Twin fic today. Maybe tomorrow our time.
HEE! A friend assures me we should have all planned ahead and gone to the ACT where one is allowed to blow things up. Another friend asked 'Hospitals?' and I actually got the reference.
I think they've recently changed the laws in the ACT and banned private use fireworks there as well, now. Despite all the licensing paperwork required, people were still smuggling them out.
*giggles*Hospitals*snorts*
And then they build monstrous museums with no style and less content.
Sorry! I had someone at work say 'Is tonight Halloween? No? Well why are we supposed to remember the 5th of November?' and I had to put him straight, which sent me straight into an urge for socially acceptable arson ;-)
Normally I would make you a cup of tea and attempt to talk you back from your Inquisatorial ambitions. But at the moment, I can see your point.
Can I throw in all politicians who appoint scientists to investigate the tricky questions and then lambast or sack them when they provide carefully investigated answers? From all sides of sundry houses around the world -- I'll not play favourites.
I shall light a firework in your honour, then :) Or, well, maybe not a firework -- ahahaha SO MUCH POTENTIAL for lost fingers -- but I'll scrawl your name in the air with a sparkler, or something :D
Oh good lord! I haven't heard that since last century! What a fabulous, mad song! Thank you! (Though in the interests of accuracy, I should point out that the beer is one thing I do not miss ;-)
You are most welcome. It seemed that y'all were going on about home like ex-pats will and I wanted to find someone reciting the Browning poem, http://www.btinternet.com/~brentours/ENGP65.htm , and I lucked out on that wonderful little bit making some gentle fun of English ex-pats. It was too cute to pass up.
