I can live with the style inconsistencies and the complicated ways of saying something simple, that's normal in craft. But for the love of god, people, jumpers need two sleeves!!
If there was more money in the knitting community, I could spend the rest of my career just fixing patterns. Sadly, I would last about four months before there would be news reports of an tiny unhinged woman laying waste to the masses in Martin Place with a set of DPNs and a stitch holder.

Date: 2011-04-01 12:20 pm (UTC)Seriously, when I was at school one of the boarding house mistresses (ahem!) was a test knitter for one of the wool companies. She seemed to specialise in 3-ply infants' designs, and would "regale" us with "yarns" about the hopeless instructions and how she would send back the samples with copious notes suggesting improvements.
We laughed at her at the time, but as a knitter I now appreciate the efforts of people like her who meant that hours of work wouldn't be stuffed up by a dodgy pattern.
And don't start me about recipes that aren't triple checked before thay are printed ... taste (dot) com (dot) au has a lot to answer for.
