What a day!

1. Hermione the PM made Dobby the house-elf  a. a Senator and b. Foreign Minister! This is why I have delayed updating, the story is still unfolding!

2. I had a FABULOUS day with [livejournal.com profile] spirillen at the AGNSW and Picasso exhibition. She is terrific! So was the exhibition!

3. The mystery of the phones in the post is solved! There was a return address, so I did a search for the name and suburb and found a possible candidate, emailed him and had a reply. A friend of mine from NZ is sending her teenager here over Easter, and he wanted to get the phones back to my Kiwi friend, so they are using teenager post. The poor lad was assuming that my friend had filled me in, while she was waiting to hear back from him before she let me know about the plan.

4. My foot is killing me and I need to make 48-60 tarts before I go to bed. Might finish watching this week's Phryne Fisher first ...

Alas, no. If it were, I could manage the whole lot horizontally and give my poor manky foot a rest!

I tried to have a conversation with an Aussie last night about political shenanigans based solely on your summary from the other day. Luckily he was able to identify the politicians involved, because all I remembered was that Harry and Hermione were fighting, and Crabbe was in charge of the opposition.

That's enough for anyone to get what you're on about ;-)

I am glad the mystery of the telephones was solved as the story now has a beginning and an end as bookends to my day. Yes, my life is just that exciting. I bet your jealous. lol

Now I want to know what kind of tarts you are making. I hope they have meringue on top because IMHO meringue goes with everything!

I hope your foot mankiness passes quickly. :)

Hee! It sort of bookended my day, too! I was very glad it was sorted so quickly and easily, as I would have spent all evening coming up with increasingly deranged theories ;-)

I am making white chocolate and raspberry tarts at the moment, and will embark on the dark chocolate ones as soon as these cool enough to come out of their tins. Possibly some custard ones tomorrow if I have time and can face the horror of the oven again.

Meringue is A PERFECT FOOD and I really wanted to make meringue sandwiches with cream filling and a slice of poached pear, but the weather is so humid that the meringues would have been crap. You need a nice dry day for meringue. I do, however, have six eggwhites in the freezer in preparation for the next dry day!

And thanks. I'll voltaren it to buggery later. It's just all the old probs flaring after all the weather changes plus a hard day at the gym yesterday followed by loads of standing today.

They really messed with the plot of Murder on the Ballarat Train, didn't they. It's probably okay as a piece of TV, but as an account of the novel, it's totally screwed. I'd rather have seen something much closer to the original. They also softened all the horror elements, and and and...

Yes! In my opinion, this Phryne has FAR TOO LITTLE sex with hot young men. It's still pretty, and good fun, but I do prefer the stories of the books.

And did you see that competition? Tea at the Windsor!

They certainly could have taken things further with that devilish Lionel Lindsay look-alike; talk about a faun! (Even though nothing like the character in the book.) I don't see Phyrne refusing to be "lustfully compromised" either. "Compromised" just wouldn't come into it. They seemed to be hinting at Jack instead.

And, Yes! I don't care about the makeover (far too late, heh), but classic Melbourne would be fun. But I probably wouldn't be here: leaving for London 19 March, away two months. Still, I can look into it...

I wish I could use HP characters to represent the political figures over here... most of them will be cast as trolls.

OMG, can I head over there to eat ALL THE TARTS? :D

YES YOU CAN! Because I have had 1 1/2 of the white chocolate and raspberry ones that stuck in their tins and I am going to EXPLODE OF SWEET FAT!!! And I have another 4 failures. I suspect I should eat one of the chocolates to check they're OK, but the thought is making me feel very worried!

Someone asked if I could do the US, but some of them are Dementors!

Ahahahahahah! Now I'm wondering about Santorum...

Dobby! OMG, I used to think Australia was on the other side of the world, now I know it's actually through the looking glass. You live in Potterverse alternate reality, with wombats instead of Cornish Pixies.

I am eagerly awaiting more news.

Yesterday afternoon was terrific indeed - really enjoyed the exhibition and the company was grand too.

Your tarts sounds delicious!

right, now to the big decision of the day - Glebe vs Paddington markets! the latter likely to win in light of time + hope to soak up some pre mardi gras atmosphere.

Hope to see you Monday!

Yay! And Paddington has better stuff generally, though for more $$. See you Monday! Though I shall be limpy after 6 hours cooking last night and heels tonight ...
