Oh dear, Canada!

I arrived home to Mr Brammers asking me: "Have you heard about Canada?"
"Aren't they having an awful cold snap?"
His eyes widened with that boyish glee of having A Fact to impart. "It was warmer on Mars today than in Canada!" he announced.
Darling Canadians, I hope that you are all keeping well. Preferably in Florida!
Or in Australia … We have just finished our hottest year on record and in Central and Northern Australia we've so far spent 2014 breaking the records that were set in 2013. Happily, it's not so bad in Sydney. You can see why I'm such a ranting loudmouth against anti-climate change ideologues, though.

Date: 2014-01-03 08:39 am (UTC)I got mine back a few months later when summer rolled around and he couldn't go outside for fear of immediate dessication from the heat and aridity, nor bursting into flames from the desert sun hitting his white skin. *evil grin*

Date: 2014-01-03 08:55 am (UTC)Once, funnily enough when I was being cold in America, there was a 44C day with just 4% humidity. Mr B put the half the laundry on the line, came in to have a wee, went back out, and found that what was on the line was bone dry – including his jeans – and most of what remained in the basket was also dry. Admittedly there were strong winds being fanned by a massive series of bushfires ringing the city … but that's not an improvement!

Date: 2014-01-03 10:24 am (UTC)Meanwhile, I'm in blissful delight in my little seaside town on the southern coast with simply wonderful summer weather. Although we will get 30C on Tuesday, apparently. Yikes.
No, I am not constantly checking Perth weather to see what we left behind and gloat accordingly. How dare you suggest such a thing?!

Date: 2014-01-03 11:53 pm (UTC)The coldest temperature I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing was -14 and I lasted long enough to get off the bus, pee and ran very fast back to the bus.
I miss autumn and spring and I am very sad that I will be mourning them for the rest of my days.

Date: 2014-01-04 02:54 am (UTC)*laughs and then cries and cries* There is no lie here, alas, says the Canadian. D: D: D:
-31 last I checked, for about, oh, the 6th day running. Plus about 17 days of December that were similar. :( However, I am very proud of myself because I start a new pseudo-job on Monday and had to test-drive my new bus route yesterday and it was very DNW for a while and I hemmed and hawed aaaaand.... then I went and took a bus. I know. The payoff of that story is rather low. But! At -31 when I could have stayed home in bed, it was a huge personal victory.
Also, the bus was warmer than my house, so.La. *shakes fist* DAMN YOU, CANADA.
