Tomorrow, Jones will be going to a new home. Unless I take one look at the fella who is coming for him and decide he looks like a bad lot.

For our last evening together I had planned some toy time, some cuddles and some patting.

Instead, we have had I Will Eat Your Linens, Your Arm Is For The Savaging and, his and Cookie's favourite game: I Groom You: I Kill You.

Guess which one is doing which?

And now, time for bed. Or, more likely, time for Stay Back, Madam, I Believe Your Feet To Be A Security Risk And Will Defend You From Them!

Here, have a pic of him being good. He can be. Sometimes for whole minutes at a time!

I haven't commented on him to date but have been watching his beauty and shall be very sad to see him go. As, I imagine, will you. (It would be wicked for me to hope you don't like the fella turning up to take him away, so I won't.)

I hope he is very nice, but if he isn't, I will be escorting him out empty handed :-)

Only gentle people can take Jones the kitten!

Good! Do you have a series of tests and trick questions to put him through? Shame legilimency isn't an option.

Seriously though, since you can't keep Jones I hope the young man is perfect for him and vice versa.

I have already run him through one set of detailed questions :-) When he comes over (delayed! Hurrah!) I will see how he interacts with Jones. It sounds as though he will be a wooing and playing person: if he's not, home with no kitten!

Just like a normal kitten, then.

For what it is worth, a friend of mine told me once that he would never sell a kitten (he bred Singapuras and Maus) to anyone who wasn't on the floor playing with the kittens within ten minutes of entering the house (he was certainly on the floor with the kittens within five minutes of entering our house, though he wasn't there to purchase -- his tom sired the kitties.) It's a policy we attempted to follow ourselves.

Yes, they should be straight into the wooing: preferably calm and gentle wooing :-)

He is so fangy. I had forgotten how sharp they are when they are little! And then so loving and gentle when he wants to be, too.

Their claws are damn sharp too.

Singapura kittens climb people. When the kittens in the first Singa litter we bred were some nine weeks old, I had to go to a well-woman exam paid for by my employers. Explaining why my back was clawed to pieces was... interesting.

And I got a phone call from the besotted owners of the first kitten we sold from that litter, explaining that, "Our friends think she's wonderful, the way she walks straight up to them and climbs up onto their shoulders."

(Phone calls from besotted kitten owners are often hilarious.)

I have to add that the breeder I was talking about was male, around 50, rotund, and inclined to peer into kitten pens with the words, "I wonder if she has enough milk, maybe I'll give her some help."

This post makes me smile. Kittens are such endearing beasties.

I KNOW! I could just eat him! Except then there'd be no one to cuddle.

I have an extra two nights! Hurrah! And he has taken to sleeping curling up against me, the wily little bugger.

I'm sure he'll be very happy in his new home. Maybe not as happy as he was in yours, but...

Cookie will be relieved when he goes, and Monster will be thrilled. I do hope Mr Kitten is lovely, so I will feel better about the whole thing. How is the puppy?

*is suddenly enlightened*

OMGosh! My cats play "I Groom You: I Kill You" all the time, and I never realized it was, like, an actual cat game!

I just thought they were being weird.

Also, I may send my kitten, Pickles, to you. When I got up this morning and was trudging through my semi-dark house, I paused to wonder, 'What is all this white stuff on my floor?'

Pickles savaged a box of Kleenex.

*head desk*

It's a common cat game ;-) Worse with an age difference. Cookie and Monster mostly play I Groom You: I Sulk At You, as Monster is all But I Am A Grown-Up Now!

Ah the Kleenex savaging. A kitty classic :-) Poor old Pickles, he was just trying to make it snow inside!

Oh my! My cat and my daughter's kitten did the I Groom You I Kill You bit all the time when my daughter was visiting during Christmas break. I keep hoping the kitten will have grown out of it by the next time she visits.

My daughter claims her kitten is really an evil snake. Of course, every time I skype my daughter, she's cuddling with the kitten or the kitten is napping, so she can't be that evil.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Kittens do eventually grow out of it, and then they mostly just groom back nicely, or sulk at being treated like kittens ;-) Evil snakes can be very lovable, you know!

Thank you for the birthday wishes.

The kitten is not only evil, she's rather clever, too. Today my daughter caught her trying to figure out the boundaries of the Ssscat can (motion detector/air spray) that my daughter has been using to try to keep her away from the computer cords. The kitten was sticking out a paw to test the range and trying it from different angles.

I told my daughter "she's testing the fence." My daughter not only recognized the reference to the velociraptors in Jurassic Park, but said that both she and her brother had thought the same thing. So she's evil and smart.

I hope that all goes well for Jones! This morning, Cat2 sat on a house-guest's lap and consented to be stroked for about a minute. This is the first time he has ever done this with a stranger. It feels like some sort of milestone.

It is! Well done you for teaching Cat2 that humanity is there to be trusted!

Cat1 remains terminally skittish with strangers, which I am at a loss to explain, since he and Cat2 are littermates and were rescued by the same people at the same time. Cat3 trusts people, but only if they stroke him with their bare feet.

They're all indoor cats, which is why the luxury of trust is allowed.

There's been a postponement. Cookie looked at me tonight and I swear she was thinking 'Mate, you told me Thursday. I can read a calendar, you know.' She has forgiven me the delay since it is short.
