Wrist still broken, though the bone has changed! Apparently the reason all the X-rays of the scaphoid looked inconclusive is because I broke the trapezium. Of course. Three X-rays and one CT scan later ...

Why yes, that cast does glow in the dark! Also, it has roughly trebled the diameter of my wrist. Ever so awkward for practically everything. Also, immobilised thumb and no grip. Can't even make rude gestures without an extraneous upright digit.

Putting on opaque tights/stockings with one hand is nearly impossible. This is unfortunate as my work wardrobe revolves around them. But I also own a lot of cotton leggings for easy cycling, so I have just substituted them in. Alas, they are only a little easier. Because they are essentially tights, you're meant to pull them on evenly up both sides at once. Do one side and the other tends to scrunch up on itself, which means you end up doing right three inches, left three inches, right three inches ...

In a moment of genius, I realised that if I bought LARGER leggings, they would be less tight! And it worked! Easy to get on! Except ...

Work bestie: 'Are you OK?'
Me: 'Yep, just pulling up my leggings.'
WB: 'Why do they keep falling down?'
Me: 'Don't ask ...'

Let us not speak of bras ... Alas, I am missing everything, but almost all typing hand is being saved for my Erised fic. Talk soon, only four more weeks!

I think, I like your (somewhat asymmetric) style. It's The Trend, right?

And here I thought, ancient Swedish X-ray scanning and medical system was crap only more expensive than a crap hair cut (you could do that, go to the hair-dressers, have your feet done in henna tattoes, have massages, the possibilities are endless;) but it appears, it can get worse. You are doing the legging trick on purpose to flirt colleagues, I gather but one can't always expect the next person to understand.

Get well soon, nevertheless because then, I expect, you can write more!

I keep making gestures with my right hand as if to say, 'look, normally so lithe and graceful!'

Our office is very open plan, but my work bestie has a nice quiet desk tucked away, so I keep scampering over to her whenever I have leggings situation, or need someone to re-do my inept bra-doing-up ... She has been known to have me check out rashes on her bosom and straighten her seamed stockings in the past -- basically we are what-not-to-do when it comes to HR's sexual harassment policy ...

And such slow typing ...

She sounds like an excellent friend and colleague to have, not merely in this situation, but in all of them!

That is a rather massive cast. Boo. I guess at least you'll have it off in time for Christmas?

She is ace.

I've got a new waterproof cast, but it's really uncomfortable, Getting it changed on Friday. And yes! free for the holidays! At least I'm overall pasty ...

You have my sympathy. I broke my radius a couple of years ago and it took a year and a lot of physiotherapy to get it back more or less as it was. And clothes that went over the head without fasteners (baggy Japanese clothes, a godsend). The titanium plate is still in there.

OW! I think I remember that ... Nothing so traumatising for me, lovely non-displaced break healing well, thank goodness. But yes, the tedium of no grip! My collection of tunics is a glorious thing ;-)

Oh no! Hope it heals soon and you can get out of the cast!

...perhaps formal black trousers (with zips instead of buttons) might be better for work while one-handed?

Don't own any! My wardrobe is entirely designed to be modular and cope with: unexpected travel; cycling to work; lots of running around the building; surprise meetings and lunches; and occasional very late nights. So it's loads of little tops, tunics and dresses in mostly monochrome wool, cotton and silk jersey or knits, with trainers for arrivals and work wedges in a box under the desk. Thank goodness I'm a 'creative', if I had to wear heels I'd be stuffed.

Pompon bear! :o)

I broke both thumbs some years ago in a motorbike accident, so I know how awkward this can be!

It's my fave sculpture :-)

I was hanging out with the one in Pars a few years back and there was a little boy who was as keen on it as I am and we just jung together, sharing time with another bear appreciator. Was very nice.

OW! Both hands at once is my nightmare! Poor you!

I can see how leggings can be slowly pulled up, but how on earth do you do up a bra one handed?!

You have to either get up in time to have your partner do it, or else do it up, then perform uncomfortable contortions to put it on done up. After which it will be too loose, but better than nothing.

That all sounds awfully difficult . . . but you have a husband! Why not make him dress you?

Fiendish independence! And the fact we are both always hopelessly late getting up in the mornings.

Did you curse me? I went outside and - literally ten minutes after reading this post - tripped over my own feet and smashed my right knee on the concrete. Quick trip to the doctor says no lasting damage, just strained tendons, bruising and a leg joint attempting to look like a purple watermelon. Not sure whether I should blame brampton or not ;)

At one point I had a cyst under my arm (I thought it was actually cancer but fortunately it was too close to the surface), and I had to wait for the sucker to get infected and then worm it's way to the skin. And I couldn't wear a bra for a month. Didn't make for very professional appearance! My sympathies!

Oh, yikes! Thank dog for good work friends who can rescue migrating tights, etc. Heal fast, and I love that you've upped your non-hurt hand's gesturing to compensate :-)
