Most people can ignore this one ...

I have no idea what I'm doing signed up for Yuletide, suffice to say my Canadian friend emailed me and told me I had to. I am not usually this biddable, but it was late and I was vague.

So, if you are the poor unfortunate who was given my list, thank you, good luck, and sorry.

Some useful tips:
* I can comfortably live with smut, especially if it's well written, but if it makes you uncomfortable or you find yourself becoming hopelessly mechanistic I'd far prefer simple fluff, drama or comedy. Boy on boy and girl on girl action is completely and cheerfully welcome, and threesomes are fine, too, as are people who just feel like shagging without declaring undying love at any point. Because seriously, it's ok to just be there for an entertaining bonk. I don't like slash between characters with significant power imbalances and I am really not into gratuitous sexual violence in any way. A tip: there's very little fictional sexual violence that's not gratuitous.
* Good comedy is always right for me. Satire is fine, too, so long as it's affectionate not cynical.
* I'm a professional editor, I've written for decades, I'm fast reaching the point where I will have to describe myself as middle aged. Accordingly, I expect characters to act like people and to speak with authentic voices within grammatically accurate sentences. That said, I am nice, so if you're young or new or nervous, fear not, just give it a good shot.
* I realise that my prompts were all slasherrific, I blame sleep deprivation and spending the last few months immersing myself in fandom. Feel free to write drama, action, romance etc. Moderate amounts of angst are fine, but in RL I am famous for telling my friends "You know, getting over it would also be an acceptable way of dealing with your issues." (Er, I'm mostly nice ...)
* I SO hope that you've volunteered for the Thursday Next prompt, but the other two are fine, too.
* Thank you!!

I may have to write it if they don't ... But Thursday stays with her canon OTP in my head, because the amount she has to go through to get there, it wouldn't be fair otherwise!

You signed up for Yuletide? That settles it. It's official. You are certifiable.

But we love you anyway.

It's entirely your fault! But Denise made me sign up for Yuletide, so I suppose it's partially her fault, too. I panicked a little when I received my assignment, the only one I know ANYTHING about is option four, but at least there I can have a spot of fun.

I love you, too, DB, in pure and noble ways.
