My box of books from London has arrived! Hurrah!

I have a cold. Boo!

It seems mild. Phew!

We are considering Pilates, is this wise?

She Stoops to Conquer is more amusing than I remembered. *Covets the fashions*

Ooo!, What book is it? Or will you make me wait until I have it in my hands?

Ok, so I may have it by Friday. Postage times to QLD are dodgy at the best of times.

So excited!

Yay books!

Boo cold!

I started doing yoga recently and am really liking it. I don't know about Pilates.

It's a really silly play that can be dull as dishwater when badly performed, but there are some really sparkling lines in it which sing with a good performance!

Pilates done properly is a grand thing - but you do need to make sure your instructor is good. I've done a class every week for a year now, and am finding it counteracts some of the damage I do to myself from sitting at the computer all day. It doesn't replace aerobic exercise - you won't get fit - but you will be more flexible and have better core strength.

She has just moved to a bigger studio, even though she's the most expensive one in the area (but also the most 'Pilates-ey' one) and my massage chap recced her, so the signs are positive.

That counteracting is exactly what I need. Have the fitness under control with walking, and am looking to go back to swimming and horseriding soon, too. Then we'll see if running is an option.

Ah, Pilates. Makes me think of Corner Gas and the town's difficulty with exercise classes named after the man who killed Jesus.

I laughed so explosively at this that Mr B asked me what was up, and when I told him, he did, too ;-)

Thanks, Huey! They're mostly exhibition catalogues and similar, so it's a lot of perving at the pretty pictures ;-)

Books!!

I too have a cold. Boo-hiss!

Mine also seems mild, though I'm wearing a sweatshirt and am slathered in Vicks Vapor Rub, despite the 70 degree weather.

Pilates! I've actually contemplated it as well. I tried yoga but didn't care for it much.

Hope you feel better!!

I will let you know how the Pilates goes, fingers crossed we may try it this week. *Sends getting well vibes!*

Pilates is pretty amazing. Like yoga on steroids. I'm a fan of both.

I'm great at yoga in one direction, but due to mangled foot and knee on opposite legs, wobbly and rubbish in the other direction :-( But Pilates looks more positive, as there are Things to help with my bad direction :-)

I'm a convert to Pilates. I'd look for a physiotherapy practice that offers studio classes. That way you get an assessment from a physiotherapist first, who will design your program to suit your needs (accounting for taxi smashed bits etc..). Also means you're supervised during the sessions to make sure you're doing the exercises correctly.

Pilates has done wonders for me, so I'd heartily recommend it.

It's a pilates-only practice, though I am not sure if it is run by a physio or not. Not a gym class run by someone who did a one-hour course, though ;-) And yes, long assessment first, which is encouraging, and then very small classes (2 or 3 people) which is, too. And a 15 minute walk across the tracks from our place -- easy!

HURRAH for pilates - well you know that I love it, and encourage people to try it all the time - can't think WHY I never suggested it to you.....
So - does the place you're going to try have the equipment as well as matwork? Mr Brammers would love the equipment - there is THE REFORMER, THE TRAP TABLE/CADILLAC and *cue ominous music* THE CHAIR......
Had a session today and did most of my work on a new type of chair (Felicia calls it the elctric chair) - it has a back you see and when you put the handles in (to do step-ups and dips etc), it looks kind of frightening...... my abs are starting to grizzle from working so hard today :)

It's because I limp so amusingly, isn't it? ;-)

Yes, it has all the Equipment, so we will be able to be tortured merrily. Still haven't heard back from them, though, the buggers! Now that I am keen, I want to make an appointment and get started!

Well I hope they get back to you quickly - and you'll have to tell us all about it.
