This week remains unhelpful.

Finger is broken (though not badly, all will be well once it stops hurting), then poor young Heath, and now MY MAGAZINE HAS FOLDED!

Now, I do not grow deeply attached to titles and workplaces for the very reason that I am familiar with the vagaries of publishing, but I really enjoyed working there and it was with the smartest and most interesting team I had ever encountered. So ... BUGGER!

Will be fine, there is redundancy pay so I do not need to dip into savings, and I also have three weeks' leave even after the hols, just ... BUGGER!

At least I can now spend a few more days in New Zealand than I looked like being able to. That's good. And if the pay-out comes through quickly and some writing gigs fall into place, I can make it up to Welly for a bit and badger people for more work! And June in Paris is back on the agenda! So really, there are plenty of silver linings, I'll just miss my workmates.

Oh poo. I'm really sorry to hear that. My favorite job ever was in a retail chain that went to the wall. I had such fun with the people I worked with that every day was like a party instead of work. I was gutted when it came to an end, but all good things do.

Glad to hear the financial situation isn't worrisome. That's always the biggie these days, isn't it?

*pets your finger carefully*

Oh, honey! I'm sorry to hear that. It's always horrible when a workplace you enjoy goes belly-up. I'm glad you're seeing the silver lining - sounds like you have a pretty awesome year planned regardless. :)

Crap! Sorry about that. Funny how things like that have a way of happening without notice. Here's hoping a new opportunity comes your way soon. And what will you be doing in Paris in June?

Well, I was wrong about that finger, wasn't I? :/

Paris!

Oh is *that* where you are!

I'm sorry you're losing your team. Come to Melbourne. The Age is the best paper in Australia. (Such low standards it's not hard.) And did I mention the cocktail bars?

You never know, this change could help you end up somewhere you like even more. I hope so!

Aw, that's a shame, your team being scattered to the wind, but it seems like there's more good than bad there, and you're landing on your feet. (the low center of gravity helps! lol)

And yay! More time for travel... and fic!

Argh, what a shame. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse though - so kudos to you for seeing the silver lining!

*offers you a slice of microwaved badger* :D

Oh, damn. (I'd echo your 'Bugger' but I don't think I could carry it off, even in print.)

*polishes your silver lining with plenty of elbow grease* Ooooh, shiny.

Ah! So shitty! And you were just telling me of the four-day-work-week splendor and the loveliness of the situation. Sucky. I hear you about people - that's always the saddest part of leaving a job (providing the $$ is okay, of course). Sounds like some awesome travelling ahead though. This June I will be travelling to um... um... my mom's house? My sister's townhouse in the burbs? The mall? *sigh*

Best of luck in what lies ahead. Somehow I doubt you will be without work for long! Also, I see the broken finger isn't slowing down your typing - that's dedication! *g*

i adore the fact that losing a work position equates to june in paris for you :D

sorry about the buggery situation, unless of course it means that i get to meet you sooner in which case i'd be pleased as punch about it but not in near you, just quietly in the background [*grins*]

Well at least there is a silver lining!

May I ask how you managed to break your finger?!

What, your magazine folded?! Poor sweetie... *hugs you tight*

(Ummm, I'm not sure why it is you'd be spending more time in New Zealand, but sure. *g*)

Mmm, anyway. Happy Australia Day! :)
