Cats grow in spurts

On Friday at lunch, when I was grabbing bags to go out to the taxi, the Monster kitten was shorter than the Cookie cat.
Tonight, I have just looked at the two of them attempting to beg cereal from J, and Monster is definitely taller than Cookie. (And yes, Monster loves puffed wheat. And toast. And crisps. She carbo-loads for the daily round of kitty sprints.)
If I can work out my new camera, I'll post some shots in the next few days. They managed not to eat each other in our absence and only hid one pair of undies in the living room for us to play find the knickers with. Good kitties!
In other animal news, when I went for a little walk around Adelaide this morning, I waltzed out the door of my hotel, straight onto Rundle St Mall, where there was a duck. When I returned from my walk, the duck was still there.

Date: 2008-08-25 02:08 pm (UTC)Cookie likes eating tulip leaves, but I try and discourage this because they are no good for her. This means no tulips ...

Date: 2008-08-24 03:57 pm (UTC)My cat does this thing where she holds her tail up with one paw and licks it and will give you Teh Look of utter SLytherin contempt for the commons if you poke her just then, and really, I am so utterly in love with all things feline :g:

Monster likes to sleep on J's head. She used to sleep on mine, too, but I toss and turn too much when I sleep, so she is his furry bedcap.

Date: 2008-08-25 02:15 pm (UTC)These two have the gravity-fed feeders, but have not worked out how to use their paws to bring down the remaining food. So they eat out the bottom of the bowl, then look plaintively at the remainder. I have used their own paws to bring down more from the top, and they look at me with an expression of "Oh human, you are so clever!" (I think these two might be a little thick ;-)

I had to stop both mine eating the tomato bits I had hauled out of my curry leftovers the other day. Our old cat used to love spaghetti sauce, and the mushrooms from chicken cacciatore. Cats are strange!

Date: 2008-08-25 08:45 am (UTC)Adelaide is not like other places and I know that first-hand. The duck is actually a prominent member of the Barr-Smith family and the last remaining Australian Democrat in Federal parliament so I hope you were respectful.

Date: 2008-08-25 09:00 am (UTC)I was very polite to the duck. "Good morning, duck," I said. "What brings you here?" It just looked at me, then cut me most Austenly. To be fair to the duck, I was wearing a beanie at the time.
